Something's Missing

When I was walking around Lambertville New Jersey this Catholic school wall caught my eye, and I thought it might look interesting in sepia.

Half a statue is better than...
Great background and the statue is probably most impressive this way, incomplete.

Okay, only half statue missing, head and heart still in place, that should do it...
God bless you!

It looks ghostly.

All those little towns around the Delaware River are wonderful - Lambertville, Washington Crossing, New Hope. Both the PA and the NJ sides are fun to visit and take photos.

I wonder when and how the statue cracked.

This photo is so touching...

The stonework does not seem so imposing in the softening sepia. The madonna is soft as well, the monochrome makes a grand ediface see more comfortable...

Is that the lady from Colombia Pictures? mixed with stones and missing her pretty head?

Oh..look at that! Great shot! It is very surreal! Matter-of-fact as I look at it, it almost looks like she is stepping out of the wall behind her and is only half way out. Very cool!

When I first saw the photo I had the impression that the statue was stepping out from the wall! It certainly is unique.

Ah! Freaky! I didn't even notice until I read the title twice! It was like an optical illusion.

Strange and fascinating piece of art! The elongation reminds me of Modigliani's elongated figures! In fact, I wonder whether this "half look" was done deliberately!

Wonderful shot. She seems to be emerging from the wall. The sepia creates an ethereal effect.

Tremendous shot - I just spent a minute staring!

You're absolutely right, too. It looks great in sepia, but what's happened to her side?

I like the light and contrasts of tones and textures.

looks like you caught the best part of her.

I have to admit the missing arm is a little disturbing. But it did turn out rather nice in sepia.

Now I am curious...could it be just your angle shot? I like the textures of the stone and great in sepia. Nice one James.
