H is for Hahnemann Hospital

I passed Hahnemann hospital when I was on my way to Chinatown the other day. The hospital was established in 1885 and is a mix of old and new buildings. The bottom photo shows part of the old building and the top one shows part of a mural on one of the newer buildings.

Two excellent photographs of an old, revered institution in Philadelphia!

Well done, James!

The mural is fantastic, 'H' handsign a great job there. You find such interesting things.

And the hospital's lettering and the way the light and shadow falls reminds me a little of Stephen King's 'Kingdom Hospital', just a bit on the mysterious side. Did you use photoshop on that photo at all James?

Nice post!

You definitely get a Gothic feeling here - the Hand suited it very well.

Good one...love the architecture here and the part of the mural must be showing some type of sign language. :D

Marvelous architecture, terrific shot, James, as always! Really interesting building -- could be out of a Gothic movie! The hand mural is different to say the least!

Enjoy!

I like the first one depicting the sign language letter H and that looks like a beautiful reflection of the blue sky in the windows in the second shot. Lovely!

I love the lettering of Hahnemann and Hospital. They don't do it like that anymore...

I would have guessed that it was a church. You could have all the money in the world but you'd be hard-pressed to replicate that building's detail.
