The view from another window.
I was alerted to the latest snowstorm by fellow Pennsylvania blogger Rebecca. She did a post yesterday titled "Snowicane". I've learned not to put much stock in weather predictions so I don't know how much snow we'll get. The photos above were taken from my bedroom window during the snowstorm that took out or power a couple of weeks ago. It continued to snow heavily for several more hours after these pictures were taken. I think we got between two and three feet of the white stuff.
It does look like a winter to remember! Wow. I call that LOTS and LOTS of snow!
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine what it would be like living in conditions like that. We complain bitterly when it drops below 10 degrees C (or even earlier).
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a winter wonderland and definitely something to remember. :)
ReplyDeleteI took my own photos too during the last snowstorm, and they pretty much look like yours.
ReplyDeleteHow fun that looks! I am dead serious...What a view from your window! I can't imagine...
ReplyDeleteWow magnificent winter!
ReplyDeleteLoving the snow. Its so warm out here.
la premiere photo est magnifique. avec toute cette neige pas facile de retrouver sa voiture
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, what a lot of snow. Never seen that before except for in Austria many years ago. There is always a lot of snow in the Alpes but not in this country.
ReplyDeleteoh gosh...much snow!
ReplyDeleteI'm really impressed. And, when it happens I think it's better stay inside home and the school should give a free day for the kids.
I should not allow my daughter to go to school with such a bad weather!
It's dangerous!
Take care okay!

Gee, all very foreign to me. I have never even seen snow falling from the sky. But it sure looks like hard work and kinda scary. Hope you don't have to go out too much and have a well-stocked pantry!
ReplyDeleteOh, my gosh, that's really something. I have cousins in Mount Gretna, and I wondered why I hadn't heard from them... :)
ReplyDeleteI don't want to see this in person any more this year!!
James: Great shots of your big snowfall. You really got blasted. I hear that more is coming to end February.
ReplyDeleteSeen from here, this look like an apocalyptic thing of science-fiction! I find it beautyful, of course, but I can't imagine what it must be to live everyday with that!! Do you still go to work?
ReplyDeleteIf yes, be careful!!
I wish you a lot of courage and patience! I guess this year, you'll be happy to see spring coming back!
Owwwwwwwwwwww Now :(
ReplyDeleteThats to many snow
I don't like that ....
It looks very dangerous !!!!!
If I was you
I would stay inside the house ;)
Send you al little sunshine
stay warm please ....
No, thank you.
ReplyDeleteIs it possible??
uh, what was that once again that Albert, the Gorecal of Doom, was trying to tell us about "Global Warming"?
ReplyDeleteOh my God!!!! Here in my home of Portugal we are complaining about the ongoing winter, very wet and cold, we will all be growing web feet shortly! This is not usual for us but you guys are really having it strong. It is beautiful but I couldn't take soooo much:))
ReplyDeleteI'm seeing the snow part...but not the "cane" part. We'll see if it amounts to anything. Thanks for the mention.
ReplyDeleteBrrr! Great winter shots, James. I love how the purple jacket stands out against the snow.
ReplyDeleteWe got 2 feet of snow in the past couple of days with more on the way. I've had enough winter!
Sunny :)
Oh WOW, we've had plenty this year, BUT nowhere near as you have had.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure she didnt get far after digging the car out.lol.
James, great photo. I was trying to decide if this was of the wet heavy variety of snow, or big, light and fluffy.
ReplyDeleteIt is kind of looking like the heavy wet stuff.
I think you all have gotten more snow than we have here in Minnesota, but I think we might have you beat on the colder temps. March is usually a big snow month here in Minnesota so I guess we will see how we do. I'm betting even with all the snow you are having that you will see your spring flowers popping their heads up through the soil a month or so before we do!
Oh yes! Beautiful. And I hear we are getting something like this between now and the next 36 hours. I hope I can match these photos come Saturday's post, James!!!
ReplyDeleteYou must be getting a little weary of this by now!
ReplyDeleteOh man, these remind me of the last winters i spent in Pennsylvania! Great shots, James! I thought i had permanently escaped such scenes moving here. Scotland's been blitzed by snowstorms since before Christmas and we're in the middle of another blizzard as i type this. As of an hour ago, the Highlands were officially cut off from the rest of Scotland. Oh well, just more photos of snow! ;)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I couldn't imagine living in a place with snow - snow is quite foreign over here. And there's so much of it. How do people manage? All those cars are covered. I get the shivers just looking at them.
ReplyDeleteI hope you were able to keep warm.
Cheers.

Wow! I guess you got bombarded with snow! Here in Maine though we get this alot. Fortunately most ends up in the mountains here which are inland about 3 to 4 hours away from here. They can have it for the ski areas! This snow looks like the wet and heavy kind that brings down the phone and power lines. Today we are having heavy, heavy winds and lots of rain. The snow is almost gone now. Be careful of your back out there!
ReplyDeleteThis makes me glad I live in the lower elevations of California!
ReplyDeletewe've had a lot of that here, too ... great photos
ReplyDeleteThe snow is coming down, since about 5am. It has not yet started sticking on the sidewalk or parking lot, but it is accumulating on the previous snow that had not yet melted!
ReplyDeleteOMG! The last photo is truly impressive!
ReplyDeleteJames, you are correct - the Carnelian Room was at the top of the Bank of America tower. A victim of the economic downturn, the Carnelian Room closed in 2009.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a white-out! Welcome to a Noreastern snow storm, my friend. I bet you miss California right about now. Great shots from the inside.
ReplyDeleteOh my ... that's a LOT of snow!!! I can't imagine what it's like to experience such weather ... seriously! Yesterday a purple iris bloomed in my front yard and today a yellow crocus opened ... way too early.
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings,
That's a lot of snow fall, and what a storm! One of the worst winters ever!
ReplyDeleteYes, you are right, a big contrast and opposite to our sunny weather here!
Stay warm.
our rain just turned to snow a couple of hours ago & it's not looking good outside right now - Oh well!
ReplyDeleteLike Ann, I can't imagine living in a place with snowstorms either. I begin feeling cold at only 23˚C!
ReplyDeleteKeep warm and safe, James.
Great shot of the lone tree in the field! The sky really sets it apart. And I hope this new snow and wind does not cut your power again.
ReplyDeleteThat's horrible ! We complained already when we had not even half of the snow ! This winter will never end ! I think I move to Australia !
ReplyDeleteSomehow that is a familiar sight and you have all my sympathy :-)
ReplyDeleteSince last Saturday we have got more than 50 cm on top of what we had from before. I now longer know where to put it, even though I have a snowblower.
Thank you for the comment. The photo is from last week, but I didn't try the bench.
It's not easy to think about spring there now. Impressive shots, I hope the weather will get better soon!
ReplyDeleteThat's an awful lot of snow James!!
ReplyDeleteI'm really looking forward to meeting you in October, I already told my husband about it. I wonder if you would give me your email adress. It would be easier to communicate about this?
I hope somebody somewhere is making a good living out of all this snow -- maybe selling toboggans?
ReplyDeleteOh wow, that is just TOO much snow!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how you look more like Canada than Ontario does!
ReplyDeleteOh My James,
ReplyDeleteI think you are experiencing a record breaking year for snowfall in PA. How are you all bearing up?
These shots are so white and chilling. I can sense the muffled air, the scraping the stoic woman makes to get out in her car and the crunch crunch through the powder of the student's footsteps.
You will have had a great experience this year and in another month, all this will be behind you.
Snow scenes are my favorite and these show the quiet and stillness, but there are always a few intrepid souls...
In your first picture it looks like there's a monk with his magic staff conjuring up the weather.
ReplyDeleteOne Single Impression - Insomnia
Almost witeout, looks like here in Norway. Great shots!
ReplyDeleteIt seems to be the scenery of the South Pole.
ReplyDeleteTake care of yourself.
Oh my goodness...that WAS a snowstorm of a century. The photos are an terrific record of it.
ReplyDeleteHoly Cow! That's just nuts. Now I feel bad complaining about 3 lousy inches of snow. Niece keeps sending pictures of Philly, and I just can't get over it. A friend in Brooklyn just told me that they got another 19 inches. What a bizarre winter. Kathy
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous!
