New York City. 5th Ave. Apple Store
Coincidentally, exactly two years ago I posted another reflection of this golden building in a post titled "A Modern Coincidence". I like this one better because it has the big Apple reflection next to the building reflection. The see-through Apple cube is a great place to capture interesting reflections.
A belated Happy Thanksgiving and I hope you have a good weekend.

Solidarité avec Paris ! (Weekend Reflections # 321)
New York City Bleu, blanc et rouge becomes red, white and blue when it's reflected.
I took a walk after celebrating my wife's birthday in NYC and found this reflection of a building. It was a touching tribute to a city that I love and have visited many times.
My heartfelt condolences to Paris after yet another horrific Islamic terrorist attack.
Je vous souhaite un week-end plein de paix !

A Modern Coincidence? (Weekend Reflections # 218)
Manhattan, New York (5TH AVE)
I was trying to get a shot of the gold building reflected on this polished stone when someone set down their Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) bag. At first I was a little annoyed but then I remembered that I'm not the only one in NYC and I had to adapt quickly to changing photo opportunities. So I decided that the MoMA bag would be part of the photo. At the time, I didn't know the name of the reflected building but after a little research I discovered that it is called The Crown Building formerly the Heckscher Building and coincidentally in 1929 it became the first home of The Museum of Modern Art. :-) The Museum moved to its current location in 1939.
I hope you (Americans) had an enjoyable Thanksgiving and I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Merry Christmas (Weekend Reflections # 66)
Even with all the pictures that I took in New York last weekend it was hard to find one that had reflections and a Christmas theme. This is a giant wreath on the Waldorf Astoria hotel and the Christmas decorations have buildings people and yellow taxis reflected in them. I didn't count them but this might be a record for the most reflections that I've posted at once.I'll be posting the rest of the NYC photos as well as my photos of Europe at on my other blog. One of my New Years goals is to keep this blog more true to it's name. :)

Bottom of the Rock Reflections (Weekend Reflections # 62)
I've been thinking about New york lately so here's a reflection from NYC. I hope to go to the top of this building and enjoy the view next time I'm there. (Top of the Rock)I hope my fellow Americans had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Newtown was blessed with the first snow of the season yesterday. :) Now let the Christmas music begin!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Reflections and Memories (Weekend Reflections # 60 )
I'll be home soon. See you all next week! Don't forget to look at my Something Sighted blog for photos of Europe. This is one of the beautiful windows at the Palace Hotel and the reflection is St. Patrick's Cathedral. You can also see a chandelier inside the hotel. This is the hotel where we stayed during our first NYC visit last year. It's an amazing hotel but it's too expensive unless I get a great deal like last time. So I'll have to hold on to the fond memories.

The Chrysler Building (Weekend Reflections # 55)
This is one of my favorite buildings. I took this shot from the entrance on Lexington Ave. I think this reflection is on the other side of the Hyatt building that I featured in Weekend Reflections # 53.Attention an important message from LinkyTools: "I am currently upgrading our entire system to make it faster and even more dependable. I've had VERY LITTLE downtime for over a year, so I trust you'll be patient as we will probably experience some bumps and problems for the next day or two. LinkyTools is FREE, so I have to do all this work myself. I pray you'll bear with me while I get this upgrade done. I'll try to keep the errors and downtime as much as humanly possible. " My fingers are crossed. :)

A Match Made in NYC (Weekend Reflections # 54)
I was walking on E 51st street between Madison and 5th Ave when I came upon this strange scene. I'm not exactly sure what this guy was doing but he stayed in this pose for a lot longer than I expected. Then the driver of the pink car got out with a spray bottle and a dirty look and preceded to clean the spot that the guy with the pink shirt touched. All this and the bonus of the reflections in the back window and surrounding cars. I love NYC!
I think a good caption for this photo would be "Where have you been all my life" because it seemed to be love at first sight.

Grand Central Reflections (Weekend Reflections # 53)
This is the reflection of the sculpture and clock on the facade of Grand Central Terminal in New York City. Mercury is easy to see with his arms stretched out under the Hyatt's " T's" but the reflection also shows a distorted Minerva lying on her side and Hercule's head as well as some buildings. The sculpture was created in 1914 by Jules Alexis Coutan of Paris."Weekend Reflections" rules are simple:

The Statue of Liberty from a Distance
A nice view of the Hudson River (I wonder what I'll see if I use my zoom?)

It was getting late in the day and we were about to head back to the train station when a lady saw me looking at my map and asked if she could be of assistance. She said she's lived in Lower Manhattan for 30 yrs. I told her that we didn't need any directions but before I knew it she was leading us to a river walk type park which was the opposite direction from the train station. We were both exhausted after walking all day but I was glad that we made the final trek to the water because I was surprised with my first ever sighting of the Statue of Liberty.

Wow! That's the Statue of Liberty! This picture was taken from the same spot as the top one(what a difference a zoom makes!)

Special Day (Weekend Reflections # 3)
You may need to click and enlarge the pictures for a better view of the reflections of 19th century portraits of a woman in the top photo, and a man in the bottom photo

This is a very special weekend for me. On Saturday October 10th 1987 Vicki and I were married. 22 years later and I can honestly say that I've never been happier. I just realized that we have been married for most of our lives.

I just realized that we have been married for most of our lives. So today I have his and her's reflections. I took these pictures at the New York Metropolitan Museum. I figured that they might come in handy someday.
There is a good chance that I'll be away from the computer on Saturday, but please comment amongst yourselves while I'm away. :-)
Happy Anniversary Vicki!

Chrysler Building x3

On my Something Sighted blog I posted the three people in NYC who caught my attention most on Saturday. In keeping with NYC and three, here are three different perspectives of the Chrysler building. You might also recognize Grand Central Station in the middle picture.Vicki and I are constantly asked why would we leave Orange County California and live in Newtown Pennsylvania.
Part of the reason is we really like being able to wake up on a nice day and in two hours or less be in either New York City,Philadelphia,Washington D.C.,Baltimore,Atlantic City, the mountains, beaches etc. Plus all of the wonderful and historic sites in here in Bucks County and New Jersey.
We really enjoy seeing other parts of this country as well as other parts of the world.
It seems that I've developed a joie de vivre in my 40's. :-)
