Another Newtown Church
This is one of the many old churches in Newtown. It's Presbyterian and sits elevated on a residential corner. One of it's stones says "Founded in 1734" while another simply says "1933".
For me, this style of architecture and building is very very American. We dont have anything resembling that here in Australia. And it is very different from churches in the UK as well.
The lines are very clean and to some extent prim and proper. The way you have photographed it, James, helps to reflect its use.
Whether or not Gods exist, I love exteriors ant interiors of churches. All over the world it's a place where we can rest for overcoming fatigue and win back our own thauhts. Have a wonderful day, James!
It looks almost like a country school house to me. It just looks peaceful. And very very old :)
ReplyDeleteProbably restored in 1933. nice old stone church and sky.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful structure and equally beautiful shot! :-) I wish those wires werent there...
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! I love the stonework. I'll bet the inside is gorgeous too.
ReplyDeleteThat's the trouble with Presbyterians - they elevate themselves above everyone else... ;-))
ReplyDeleteThis is an oldie but goodie, for sure. Love the stone which is one reason I loved living in Pennsylvania - so many old stone houses and barns...
Very nice shot, James!
The stone work is so amazing. There are many buildings here (Harbor Springs) that incorporate stone work into the foundation and more.
ReplyDeleteI like the slim spire:) Great angle!
ReplyDeleteGreat building, impressive stonework, great image. A pity for those wires...
ReplyDeleteI adore the stonework!
ReplyDeleteGreat preserved Heritage church building. And I agree with Arija.
