Once again it's time for Skywatch Friday. I love taking pictures of interesting things with a beautiful sky in the background. This week I present part of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge. Some of the middle fence posts seem to be pointing to the train headed for Camden New Jersey.
The bottom picture is the color version of
William Penn and his Pigeons. I can't imagine what William or Benjamin would think of the colossal bridge or the speeding train in the picture above him.

Bridges are fascinating! All the engineering and stories on their back...
ReplyDeleteGreat post and sky!
God bless you!

You do these looking-up shots very well, James. Great compositions in both cases. I think Franklin would push his glasses down his nose, wrinkle his brow, grin slightly, and say, "I knew it would come to this!"
ReplyDeleteHave a great day! And thanks for your kind words!
James... nice pics of the bridge... :) It looks good from the phila side.
ReplyDeleteI love bridges and I like that the train is crossing. The pigeon in flight is great. Thanks for stopping by.
ReplyDeleteSunny :)
That bridge reminds me of the Bay Bridge here. Just as beautiful. And that pigeon on statue image is really nice.
ReplyDeleteAnd what would Penn think of having pigeons on his head? :) I really like the industrial feel about the first picture.
ReplyDeleteI love bridges and this one is no exception. What a beautiful capture. And how awesome is the second one with both pigeons...excellent :)
ReplyDeleteTerrific shots, James! Beautiful blue skies and I LOVE the pigeons on old Ben's hat!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Sylvia
I think he would be more concerned with the bird on his head.
ReplyDeleteThat impressive bridge ought to have room for a couple of birds too, but birds love statues!
ReplyDeleteNever saw Willie Penn like this before! Neat!
ReplyDeleteFantastic SkyWatch! Thanks for posting the bird again. I love that picture!
ReplyDeleteOUTSTANDING PHOTOS OF GREAT ACCOMPLISHMENTS.
ReplyDeleteWell done.

That's beautiful James!
ReplyDeleteNo skywatch for me today .... been away ...but there's something new.
Two great shots. Happy SWF.
ReplyDeleteThis is my main blog.
ReplyDeleteI love the bridge shot, and the second shot is very interesting. The pigeon looks like part of Ben's hat!
Hmmm, two great minds with one single thought (if uyou get my drift, James) Bridges and bird just seem to be the topic of the day.
ReplyDeleteGreat views of both, well done, as always...
Have a nice weekend
Great shots James. The bridge reminds me of the Bay Bridge from Oakland to San Francisco also. It looks like Mr. Penn gets plenty of attention too.
ReplyDeleteGreat composition, James.
ReplyDeletenice shots!!!
ReplyDeleteNice shots...I love the upward view...great lines in the first shot...second shot is a fun photo!
ReplyDeleteGood shot for the bridge. The gate is blocking your view though. Have a good weekend, James.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot of the bridge, gate and all. Interesting second shot.
ReplyDeleteI like how the pickets in the fence align with the cable suspension on the bridge. Both are great shots, James.
ReplyDeleteI didn't notice the train at first. What a beautiful bridge and I like the way you included the fence.
ReplyDelete"I can't imagine what William or Benjamin would think of the colossal bridge or the speeding train in the picture above him."
ReplyDeleteI love the back perspective of William Penn. It let's us all imagine his facial expression as he thinks on your above quote! ;o)
All the best, Maria
Hey! We both snapped bridges for skywatch! This is beautiful. I love the blue bridge against the blue sky. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteFantastic photo thanks for all the information.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day.

Great view of the bridge, the fence is a perfect addition.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures, the second is my favourite.
ReplyDeleteImpressive bridge and picture.. My eyes were attracted by the area UNDER the bridge, this kind of strange places that can be found in tall cities, a kind of no-man's land, hidden and forgotten, very near and at the same time very far, a little scarry, that we see every day but where we would never go....
ReplyDeleteBeautifully done.
ReplyDeleteI trust from wherever Penn is observing his former world, he is pleased the pigeons keep him company.
Love all the lines in that first shot.
ReplyDeleteRevered statues make great roosting places for pigeons, they have no respect for history. Nice shot.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful pictures ...
ReplyDeleteThanks, I admire and learn!
:-)
Can you email me at martha.kasper@gmail.com, I have a little info that I have figured on the posting comment problem, but I never know when I type these if they will take!
