This is another picture that I took yesterday in Philadelphia. I was standing on a bridge over the Schuylkill River. The building on the let is the 30th Street train Station, where I just came from. The tall newer building to the right is the Cira Center.
I posted the same picture twice because I've been noticing pictures that seem nice tend to become blurred when posted. I was wondering if it was from over editing, but I barely did anything to the top picture. Certain details like the flags look blurry in both but only after they are posted. This is a head scratcher.

Are you sure it's not your eyes! The don't look blurry to me.
ReplyDeleteSunny :)
Beautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteThe second seems to me with a better contrast ...
c'est surprenant ce mélange vintage et moderne, on dirait presque une maquette.
ReplyDeleteit is amazing this vintage mixture and modern, they would say almost a model.
I've noticed that same thing on some of my pictures after they are posted too. Not sure what is going on. This is a nice water shot!
ReplyDeleteI can't see much difference between these two pics. I usually do auto-contrast, resize to 1024x768, do sharpness and save as Photoshop jpeg level 4-5. Sometimes I have doubts too, but probably it's something erratic in the software. I'll keep an eye on it, thanks for the heads-up.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving this tour to the city of brotherly love. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteYou have opened a large and fascinating subject that might involve both the settings you use when editing, the screen, but most likely Blogger and their policies.
ReplyDeleteOn this PC (admittedly a laptop - my regular one has the hiccups) the lower photo has more contrast and vibrancy than the first one. It also seems sharper.
I do not have this problem and I am fairly sure that this is due to my using an external server for my pictures (not related to Google in any way) that gives me a URL that I can put into the appropriate box. In that way Blogger just loads the picture as an ordinary link. You ought also to resize the photo to the size you want to display before uploading. Otherwise you will have to edit the picture-size by hand in HTML-mode.
These are both beautiful buildings...the second shot does look sharper with more contrast...not to mention the contrast between the older train station and the modern cira center....nice shots...
ReplyDeleteThese don't look blurry to me. Have you been to an eye doctor recently? LOL. just teasing. They are awesome :)
ReplyDeletePristine white clouds, beautiful blue sky and reflective, shimmery water--all my favorites!
ReplyDeleteAmazing shot James! I like the way the blue skies reflect in the center building.
ReplyDeleteI like the picture very much - with the modern building looking like a crazy futuristic addition.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the others: the lower one seems to have more contrast. I would have thought what you say is blur is due to resizing and compression - ?
Incredible photos! Always a pleasure to come here and see shots of Philadelphia, a beautiful city indeed. I also enjoyed the other posts with the murals. They were magnificent!
ReplyDeleteYour photos looks surreal, like the blue sky-like building was Photoshopped or is part of one of those sci-fi books my son reads.
ReplyDeleteLovely watery view. To my aging eyes the second looks a bit crisper. I'm sharing a watery photo my sister took in South Bend, Washington at Small Reflections ;--)
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings,
James they are both awesome when you open them up and look at them on a full screen. Not blurry at all, unless there is something in your coffee you aren't telling us about. There seems to be quite an assorment of architecure around your area. What a great selection!
ReplyDeleteI like the way this modern building is blending with the sky - it looks like a ghost building! Very interesting shot!
ReplyDeletei love the older building with pillars, and the new building looks like a block of ice. interesting shot.
ReplyDeleteeach in its kind, every of those buildings is very impressive!
ReplyDeleteThat's what I like in USA: everything is bigger than life!
Beautiful place.
ReplyDeleteExcellent!
both looks perfect! I always love your pictures!
ReplyDeleteGod bless you
Léia
Great shots James! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a contrast between the two buildings.
ReplyDeleteThe sky reflects beautifully on the building. Great work.
ReplyDeleteGreat sky; great water.
ReplyDeleteSydney - City and Suburbs
That cira center is a gorgeous building, I love how you included it in this pic with the gorgeous surroundings. Great place to relazx and read a book.
ReplyDeleteCheers

Wonderful shots,
ReplyDeletegreat job ;)
How did your head go James? Still itchy from over editing?
ReplyDeleteThere seems to be a slight difference but it's cool to post the two.
What we should do is to spot the difference. lol.
Very nice actually. Maybe I should trade in your camera with my Sony Eric ....not a fat chance! lol.
The train station looks like a fortress and the Cira Center looks like a mirage! And odd, dreamy and wonderful picture.
ReplyDeleteJames, Blogger-Picasa resizes the photo into several resolutions whenever you upload one. There's a simple solution. After you upload the photo, and while you're still in the post editing screen, click on the Edit HTML tab. Look for the img src= tag and change "s800" to "s1600". This way, Blogger will display the highest resolution image (and not just link to).
I hope that made sense.
the glass wall tower at the back is impressive. :)
