Weekend Blizzard!

Looking to the left from my balcony as the wind howled and the snow flew.
Looking straight ahead

Look at the guy and his dog to the right.
This weekend there was a blizzard in Newtown and many other parts of the east coast.
The snow started falling here early Saturday morning and it continued until Sunday morning.
This was a first for Vicki and me. The snow is really beautiful and we stayed warm and cozy listening to Christmas music and Vicki even baked some cookies. I just wish that we had a fireplace.

I went out for a little while and took some pictures on Sunday afternoon so I'll post some of them next time.

  1. You were hoping for snow...you got it!
I can't believe we never got one snowflake with this storm.
Your pictures certainly capture the winter's beauty.
    Keep warm.
    Sunny :)

  2. Wow, nice photos of the snow falling.

How many inches did you get? We had the same weather about a week ago or so here in MN. Ended up not hitting us quite a badly as predicted, at least in our area, I think it went a bit more south of the Twin Cities, but we got our share.

It is pretty, mostly from the inside looking out, but if it is not too cold... it also makes for a lot of fun..uh unless you are driving.

  4. Wonderful photos. How strange that we all seem to be having the same kind of weather at the same time.

  6. What wonderful scenes of white! I know snow creates a lot of work and dangerous driving conditions, but, you have to love it! I just saw a bunch of wild parrots fly over my yard. I guess that means "no" snow for us! Your photos are super!

  12. That's exactly what I did this Sunday, and then we even watched a mushy movie. It has stopped snowing now and it's pretty icy out there, we'll see what it's like going to work tomorrow!
You have a wonderful view from your balcony and hey, don't we all wish we had fireplaces? I'm looking into these bioethanol thingys, at least they *look* nice...

  14. Very cold weather even here, but without the snow. I'd like some just for the pictures, but I think I'll settle for yours very good ones.

  16. What an enchanting panorama in ANY weather. But I don't yearn for the following slush! Here, in Oz, we've got a High Fire ban today because of soaring temperatures! Swap?

  20. Welcome to the "Great White North" James. Ain't it just beeyoootiful? Heard a lot of indoor happenings but didn't quite catch any snow shovelling, snowball fights or building of snowmen! Shame, shame, shame! All kidding aside, it sure does look nice outside your window.

  21. I rtealized as soon as I posted that It was not wales . I came on your interesting site from A welshpool mid wales blog next small town to Newtown. so there is the mistake rectified.
When i saw the blizzard in Newtown photos I though . hmm my pals are keeping this to themselves.
the back problems is the reason I live here in Egypt I am authritic have 3 slipped discs. and have a wheelchair in Wales Here it hardly ever rains. so no arthritis,
and if I get back pains its my own fault for lifting too much or over doing the walks.

  22. "Oh the weather outside is frightful, inside it's so delightful"

That sounds so wonderful that you and your wife were playing Christmas songs, and making cookies ! You have each other... no need for a fireplace, ;)

I love your photos! Absolutely beautiful! The 1st one is my fave !

Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones !!!

  23. Pretty dreamy sight. Having experienced snow in my life, I do prefer a wood fireplace to electric or gas heater. I can cook meals over the stove top and broil meat or fish over live embers.

  24. Wonderful photos, so much so that I swear I got a chill looking at all the snow! The second photo is my favorite. The first snow is always the prettiest to me, makes on want to just be cozy inside all day, listening to music and drinking cocoa.
