Sparkling Cold Reflections (Weekend Reflections # 21)

I'm living in an icy world so here are some little worlds and even the sun reflected in upside down icy drops.
The power finally came back on! So I'm able to post a picture. Thanks for the concern and nice comments. I think that I mentioned before how unprepared Vicki and can be. We did finally get a snow shovel which I used for about an hour Thursday simultaneously digging out the car and throwing out my back. We didn't have any candles so with just a small flashlight it was a cold and dark Wednesday night. I bought a couple of battery powered lanterns today so now we're better prepared. On the bright side the food in the refrigerator didn't spoil since it was so cold in the house. That's done, now it's time for reflections!

  1. Isn't it just ridiculous how we rely on electricity? I'm glad you're back to normal, the heating I guess is the main problem...

Now James, how did you take this photo? I'm nonplussed, it's gorgeous but how do you do these things? :-)

  2. That's an excellent capture, James! Hope your power is back soon!

  3. This is amazing! I am baffled by the two droplets...how did you ever catch them so perfectly? What an impressive shot!! I hope your back is okay! Just be careful. People from Orange County don't know how to do the "snow and ice" things! Remember that and be careful...I am serious. I hope the amenities of daily living are restored quickly in your area. Take care!

  4. Wow! That one big drop with the reflection is very cool!
With all that glistening going on it must have been a beautiful day.

Here in the country we loose electricity often. It's not fun.

  10. Pretty amazing shot! Glad to hear you online, sorry to hear about your back.

I purchased a generator a few years back. Fortunately, I've only used it once.

  13. The drop dripping up instead of down reminds me of a ball of mercury. Neat Idea well implemented James. May as well take advantage of the insane winter weather.

  14. Glad to hear your power is back on, but stock up on batteries and flashlights for the next time. Hubby works for a large power company so we over prepare, lol.

Love this shot, a very cool illustration of perspective. Well done.

  15. That is soooo beautiful. I love this capture James. It's so different and just inspiring if you ask me. I'm sorry to hear about your back. I heard on CNN that when you shovel snow also throw the snow to your right. It helps not put so much pressure on your heart by throwing left. I hope your power stays on. Another thing to invest in is a portable radio. Have a great Friday my friend. Hope you and Vicki are doing well :) TBK

  18. You make me remember the time when , being a young southern girl, I went away from my sunny shore to live in the big north of France...Ü
I learned a lot about how to drive a car in snow, how to use a shovel, how to have candles at home...Then, I enjoyed much more being back to south!!
Your picture is sooooo great, I like the "bubble" of ice and the reflection in it! that's magyc!

  31. A marvelous picture James! We live in the country, and lose our power often. We have a generator and tons of candles. We also heat with wood in the winter, and with 2 blowers on the wood stove we can't be without electricity very long.
Have a great week-end, and stay warm.

  34. Gorgeous picture !

Poor you being without electricity is the worst ! No heating, no light no nothing. It happened twice to us this year, but only for 2 h. That was already terrible, it just happened for supper time ! and I too wasn't prepared. The second time was better, lol !

  40. Something I'd have never had thought to do... Very creatively shot. What's amazing is that you shot it upside down which makes it look like a water splash drop...

    Pixellicious Photos

  62. The drop reminded me of this:
"To see a world in a grain of sand,
And a heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,
And eternity in an hour." (William Blake)
    Magical and moving photo.
