The power finally came back on! So I'm able to post a picture. Thanks for the concern and nice comments. I think that I mentioned before how unprepared Vicki and can be. We did finally get a snow shovel which I used for about an hour Thursday simultaneously digging out the car and throwing out my back. We didn't have any candles so with just a small flashlight it was a cold and dark Wednesday night. I bought a couple of battery powered lanterns today so now we're better prepared. On the bright side the food in the refrigerator didn't spoil since it was so cold in the house. That's done, now it's time for reflections!

Isn't it just ridiculous how we rely on electricity? I'm glad you're back to normal, the heating I guess is the main problem...
ReplyDeleteNow James, how did you take this photo? I'm nonplussed, it's gorgeous but how do you do these things? :-)
That's an excellent capture, James! Hope your power is back soon!
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing! I am baffled by the two droplets...how did you ever catch them so perfectly? What an impressive shot!! I hope your back is okay! Just be careful. People from Orange County don't know how to do the "snow and ice" things! Remember that and be careful...I am serious. I hope the amenities of daily living are restored quickly in your area. Take care!
ReplyDeleteWow! That one big drop with the reflection is very cool!
ReplyDeleteWith all that glistening going on it must have been a beautiful day.
Here in the country we loose electricity often. It's not fun.
Round The Bend.
I see water droplets are jumping for joy that your power is back on.
ReplyDeleteThat image is really impressive.
ReplyDeleteVery cool picture...no pun intended!
ReplyDeleteTake care of your back and keep warm.
Sunny :)
Snow and ice can be fun - in ,ore ways than one. At least you got a great picture. Good luck with the snow (shall i lend you my snow blower? :-) )
ReplyDeleteBeautiful captures James!
ReplyDeleteLooks refreshing.
Pretty amazing shot! Glad to hear you online, sorry to hear about your back.
ReplyDeleteI purchased a generator a few years back. Fortunately, I've only used it once.
Excellent and beautiful shot!:-)
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend!
Fantastic shot! I hope your back is okay now and glad your power is on!
ReplyDeleteThe drop dripping up instead of down reminds me of a ball of mercury. Neat Idea well implemented James. May as well take advantage of the insane winter weather.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear your power is back on, but stock up on batteries and flashlights for the next time. Hubby works for a large power company so we over prepare, lol.
ReplyDeleteLove this shot, a very cool illustration of perspective. Well done.
That is soooo beautiful. I love this capture James. It's so different and just inspiring if you ask me. I'm sorry to hear about your back. I heard on CNN that when you shovel snow also throw the snow to your right. It helps not put so much pressure on your heart by throwing left. I hope your power stays on. Another thing to invest in is a portable radio. Have a great Friday my friend. Hope you and Vicki are doing well :) TBK
ReplyDeleteAwesome! That new lense is really working for you well James. Of course there is some talent involved... :)
ReplyDeleteGreat shot!
That is a brilliant photo. I've got an icy shot too but it is a few weeks old. Good luck coping with all that weather.
ReplyDeleteYou make me remember the time when , being a young southern girl, I went away from my sunny shore to live in the big north of France...Ü
ReplyDeleteI learned a lot about how to drive a car in snow, how to use a shovel, how to have candles at home...Then, I enjoyed much more being back to south!!
Your picture is sooooo great, I like the "bubble" of ice and the reflection in it! that's magyc!
This is a crazy amazing shot James! The clarity is gorgeous, and that does look like a ball of mercury. Hope your back heals up soon, and that your weather calms down - what a crazy winter! Kathy
ReplyDeleteMarvelous image! At first I thought that big drop looked metallic. Stay warm. :D
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, cameo reflection in the water! Love how there seems to be a meltdown of snow and ice and water! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWhat a marvelous photo!
ReplyDeleteAnd here I am sweltering as I join the group!
ReplyDeleteExcellent James. Creative, colorful and fun.
ReplyDeleteSo glad things are back to normal, or almost normal, James! Sorry about your back. I hope it heals quickly! Your upside-down icicles are outstanding, defy gravity!! :)
ReplyDeleteWow! This shot is excellent! So great composition!
ReplyDeleteSmart.
ReplyDeleteSuperb reflection and very successful close-up!
ReplyDeleteThis is a gorgeous shot James, like always. That big water drop hanging in the air is amazing and the little one is it's echo.
ReplyDeleteSorry about the bad weather and all the problems it involves.
Stay warm!
That's a super picture.
ReplyDeleteStunning shot. I like the ice man too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a KEWL capture ;-)
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering how many times you tried before you got it just right?
Hugs and blessings,
Beyond words.
ReplyDeleteImpressive.
please have you all a wonderful weekend.
A marvelous picture James! We live in the country, and lose our power often. We have a generator and tons of candles. We also heat with wood in the winter, and with 2 blowers on the wood stove we can't be without electricity very long.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week-end, and stay warm.
B.
This is a Super- Cool pic, James!!
ReplyDeleteJunie
Hey, James. I really need to get ahold of you. I tried e-mailing you a while back, but didn't get a response so it might not have been the right e-mail. Please contact me. My e-mail link is in my profile
ReplyDeleteVery nice photo.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous picture !
ReplyDeletePoor you being without electricity is the worst ! No heating, no light no nothing. It happened twice to us this year, but only for 2 h. That was already terrible, it just happened for supper time ! and I too wasn't prepared. The second time was better, lol !
NASA scores again! See a reflection of the Endeavor launch also.
ReplyDeleteHow I love this shot, spectacular
ReplyDeleteIt's good to read that your electricity is back. That is a very beautiful shot! I love it. Have a wonderful week. I hope the snow doesn't get so high again and everyone stays safe and sound.
ReplyDeleteYou surprise me every week, this is amazing!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear your power is back on & you & Vicki are warm again. A house without heat is no joke this time of year.
Amazing reflection in the bubble!WOW! Sorry to hear about the power outage. Must be awful without heating.
ReplyDeleteSomething I'd have never had thought to do... Very creatively shot. What's amazing is that you shot it upside down which makes it look like a water splash drop...
ReplyDeletePixellicious Photos
A fantastic image, you was able to concentrate the essence and the beauty of the ice in this picture. You have to tell us something more about how you did it...
ReplyDeleteThat new 50 mm lens and you are a match made in heaven I believe! The sun flares and the blue sky make this picture like something out of this world! Very clever!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your electricity is back on. Keep warm and have a great weekend!
Awesome! I'm always impressed by the richness of details in your images!
ReplyDeleteGod bless you!
Cezar
P.S.: turning the pic upside down was a nice trick, it added a lot to the overall effect!
SO happy to hear your power is back on! I love your reflection in the droplet. A wonderful capture!
ReplyDeleteJames, can you please remove the first link? I accidently submitted last week's link! The second one is the right one. Thank you!!
ReplyDeleteI love your reflection on the water drop and icicles.
ReplyDeleteQuite a take James!
ReplyDeleteThe computer is playing so many tricks on me these days... no time to post much.
What a clever shot! I love that it is upside down - it has a nice surreal quality to it, and I love love love the tiny reflection in the tiny drop. Excellent capture!
ReplyDeleteLove the shot.
ReplyDeleteThis is outstanding! The reflection in that little drop is amazing and the sparkle on the ice juzr dazzled me.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very cool shot! I love the reflection in the little droplet. Amazing!
ReplyDeleteA very novel reflection. I like it!
ReplyDeleteStunning shot, James. Love it.
ReplyDeleteWOW! Fantastic image!
ReplyDeleteGlorious!! Oh I am so in awe of this photo James!
ReplyDeleteSuch a "titillating" shot!
ReplyDeleteStay warm.
Smiles
I see another world in a drop of water.
ReplyDeleteIt is the best moment.
I totally love the world in the drop. And I am really, really glad your power is back on. You will definitely be more prepared in the future, I am sure. So not fun.
ReplyDeleteThis is such an awesome capture, James!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you and Vicki didn't turn into icicles during the blizzard and power outage. Please keep warm and take care of yourselves.
That's a beautiful shot...I enlarge ti to see if I could see you in the drop...
ReplyDeleteSorry I didn't join this weekend, but will be back!!
Amazing shot! Cool with the picture upside down!
ReplyDeleteYour photo is beautiful. I am falling up.
ReplyDeleteRosemary and Reflections
Awesome reflection! This is my first time participating. Hope your weather has improved ;)
ReplyDeleteI love this picture James. So beautiful! It inspired me to go and take a picture of icicles! They are melting off the roof of the house as I speak : )
ReplyDeleteThe drop reminded me of this:
ReplyDelete"To see a world in a grain of sand,
And a heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,
And eternity in an hour." (William Blake)
Magical and moving photo.
Fantastic photo!
ReplyDeleteAmazing! :)
That's really clever - and spectacular!
ReplyDeleteGreat, gravity-defying icicles
