Roadside Americana
This is the outside of Jennie's Diner. It's an original 50's diner and they serve all kinds of food 24hrs a day including pancakes that are bigger than hubcaps. It's a very popular stop for truckers. Next week I'll give you a peak inside.
Cool, best places to eat are the ones where the trucks stop! The Food Channel has a show called 'Diners and Dives'. They take you into some pretty interesting places. Can't wait to see the inside of this one. What a blue sky...looks like a great day to do some exploring!
Pancakes bigger than hubcaps! Oh my...!!! How I would love to see this dinner on one of our road trips! The food must be so good it could kill you! But...so good!
LOL...I'm not laughing at your cool diner pictures...I'm laughing because I almost posted a diner picture. I told you great minds think alike! Can't wait to see the inside. Sunny :)
Great pictures. Love those old looking places. I had the same problems with my foto's here yesterday James. Just saw little crosses where my foto's should be.I tried every site to see what was wrong but it went away later and I can see ecerything again now.
Sooooo american view!!I guess I already know how the tables are, and a woman will come and give you some coffee from a coffee-pot (a thing that french people never do!) I'm impatient to see the inside!
Wow, a wonderful piece of "Americana"! Can't wait to see inside. I notice the neon sign is lit up, and the "R" is not. At night, it probably reads "DINE"!
Another classic. I miss those diners, especially the ones stretching along the way from Philly to the Jersey shore. Those menus were always soooo huge too. Great study in silver and blue. Now I must go eat some pancakes!
Great pictures, James. Love the blue of the sky. Diners are always a favorite of mine.

ReplyDeleteThe state of this shop and the neon sign seems to be totally one scene of the American film.
ReplyDeleteGreat capture of classic Americana!
ReplyDeleteOh happy days! Love that neon sign :)
ReplyDeletedefinitely my type of place. I love Diners.
ReplyDeleteLove this perspective too James.
Oops, I posted my diner comment one post down. Well, imagine it here.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I love it... that is one thing we do not have here... and I miss those diner breakfasts ! Even a Denny's would almost do...

de l'art deco, un "Diner" , la vraie Amérique. Le plus beau pour moi, restant l'Empire Diner à NYC.
ReplyDeleteMy grandfather used to take me sometimes to such diners, that he lovingly called 'greasy spooons.' They weren't, at least to my childish critieria.

ReplyDeleteBig pancakes - yumm. But often, my appetite is bigger than my stomach... :)
ReplyDeleteThese photos are great - never been to one of these, but it would be fun. I like the last photo, gives an idea of the surrounding.

ReplyDeleteFANTASTIC! «Louis» likes it!
ReplyDelete«Louis» is very much 'into' '50s Americana.
Gotta love that sign and chrome facade!
ReplyDeleteKen Mac of New York (Greenwich) will love this too.
Oh such a lovely backdrop from the sign. You do get a lot of clear skies in Pennsylvania :)
ReplyDeleteNow there's something you don't see too often any more! What a great find. I can't wait to see the inside!
ReplyDeleteI <3 Diners! Great shots, James!
