I took these photos of Old St. Andrew's Church (circa 1880) while on my walk last night. I can see the lights from this church when I look out of my window but I think this is the first time I took pictures of it at night. I almost never take night pictures but I want to start. I also walked into the church cemetery but I got a little creeped out and headed to the main street area instead. :)
photos de nuit magnifique, j'adore cette lumiere
ReplyDeleteDid you lay on the sidewalk to get the great angle in the second picture? haha!
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful night shots, James. The cemetery would creep me out at night too!

Excellent my friend. i can't do night shots for the life of me. They are harder than anything I've ever tried. Well except for maybe to capture a hummingbird or butterfly or something like that. Pure beauty my friend. :)
ReplyDeleteYou know my mom use to take us kids through the cemetery at night. We begged her always to do it. As a child I think we all tried not to be scared but we always were. :) Fun things while growing up :)
Such beautiful pictures!
ReplyDeleteExtraordinary pictures James.
ReplyDeleteYour pictures have a wonderful light, and I impatient to see what you will experiment.
ReplyDeleteI think that it's almost impossible to go in a cemetery during the night without being impressed or scared; We all have heard to much stories, seen too much movies, and have too much imagination!:)
A beautiful church and great night shots.

Ah beautiful! The church lighted in the evening reminds me so much on Holland on cold winter nights, close to Christmas!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful church, I can imagine the cemetery to be a bit tooo much for the weak hearted, that is my case!:)
ReplyDeleteWonderfol night time photos!
ReplyDeleteLove the old church too. I need to practice more night shots too.
ReplyDeleteI love the way the stained glass is lit from the inside.
ReplyDeleteI like your idea James, for sure you also have the perfect camera to take pictures at night! These pictures are wonderful, I love the colours. The church is adorable, the last shot is awesome ( my kind of angle in that shot! ).
ReplyDeleteAs I'm here using the old normal digital camera, oh yes....believe me I didn't buy the new camera yet, so it's impossible to me take good pictures at night. :(
So that, thanks a lot for this post, I'm waiting for more, but please don't go to the cemetery to take pictures, I think the city centre will be a great idea! :)

ReplyDeleteNice night shots! Love the lights.
ReplyDeleteI love night photography and it's great to see you embracing it with this glowing church punctuating the night sky. It's the perfect subject and the perspective of the second one fading off into the darkness above is marvelous!
ReplyDeleteThese kind of lights tend to speak a lot about warmth. Great.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots. It's funny but cemeteries should be the least scary place.
ReplyDeleteWell done, James! Such a charming start to your night shot adventure. I'm partial to the stained glass.

ReplyDeleteI'd get creeped out in a cemetery at night too. But these are lovely night shots of a beautiful church. You should do more night photography! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat shots James!! I find it interesting how in the second shot it looks as if the church is going to fall right on top of you/me/the viewer!! As for the cemetery, next time go in and be tough...I bet you'll get some really cool shots there!! And maybe you'll even catch a ghost!! Booo!
ReplyDeleteold buildings and churches are now so precious to me especially with our recent earthquake.
ReplyDeleteMy heart aches when a Roman style church has to be pulled down.
I love churches and the way you captured this shot with it illuminated - it is just stunning!
