Olde St. Andrew's at Night

I took these photos of Old St. Andrew's Church (circa 1880) while on my walk last night. I can see the lights from this church when I look out of my window but I think this is the first time I took pictures of it at night. I almost never take night pictures but I want to start. I also walked into the church cemetery but I got a little creeped out and headed to the main street area instead. :)

  2. Did you lay on the sidewalk to get the great angle in the second picture? haha!
These are wonderful night shots, James. The cemetery would creep me out at night too!

  3. Excellent my friend. i can't do night shots for the life of me. They are harder than anything I've ever tried. Well except for maybe to capture a hummingbird or butterfly or something like that. Pure beauty my friend. :)

You know my mom use to take us kids through the cemetery at night. We begged her always to do it. As a child I think we all tried not to be scared but we always were. :) Fun things while growing up :)

  5. Your pictures have a wonderful light, and I impatient to see what you will experiment.
I think that it's almost impossible to go in a cemetery during the night without being impressed or scared; We all have heard to much stories, seen too much movies, and have too much imagination!:)

  7. Ah beautiful! The church lighted in the evening reminds me so much on Holland on cold winter nights, close to Christmas!

  11. I like your idea James, for sure you also have the perfect camera to take pictures at night! These pictures are wonderful, I love the colours. The church is adorable, the last shot is awesome ( my kind of angle in that shot! ).
As I'm here using the old normal digital camera, oh yes....believe me I didn't buy the new camera yet, so it's impossible to me take good pictures at night. :(
So that, thanks a lot for this post, I'm waiting for more, but please don't go to the cemetery to take pictures, I think the city centre will be a great idea! :)

  13. I love night photography and it's great to see you embracing it with this glowing church punctuating the night sky. It's the perfect subject and the perspective of the second one fading off into the darkness above is marvelous!

  21. Great shots James!! I find it interesting how in the second shot it looks as if the church is going to fall right on top of you/me/the viewer!! As for the cemetery, next time go in and be tough...I bet you'll get some really cool shots there!! And maybe you'll even catch a ghost!! Booo!

  22. old buildings and churches are now so precious to me especially with our recent earthquake.

My heart aches when a Roman style church has to be pulled down.
