Camden Reflections (Weekend Reflections # 72)

Philadelphia, PA (Ben Franklin Bridge looking toward Camden New Jersey)

I wish the first lamp wasn't there because it was so bright and it blocked part of the bridge view.
Someday I hope to take a better pictures from this bridge. I took this one last month and despite the warm colors it was a lot colder and windier than I thought it would be. Plus the cars and trucks make the bridge shake. Next time I'll be more patient and maybe I'll even walk over to New Jersey and capture some Philadelphia reflections.

This will be my Sunday Bridges entry too!

If needed please click the link in the top right corner for Weekend Reflections instructions.
Now lets have some fun with Weekend Reflections!

  2. This is one of the best images you've ever posted James -- fantastic. Love the composition!

  3. Great photo. It´s a pity the strong light but it´s a great shot. Greetings.

  4. Lamps are lamps - just part of the life of photographers :-)
Otherwise - a very nice composition.

  5. I love the angle of the shot on this one : there is a work on verticality that is framing the whole view that is very interesting... It musn't have been easy too take (well it would have been for me, as I suffer from vertigo, so I admire your courage...)

  6. Great. I feel like I'm standing right there on the bridge too, with it shaking and the wind blowing. You were brave to go out and get these shots, James.

  7. I think so too about the lamp. But your pictures make it look so easy to photograph. Love the angle of this shot James.

  8. I need to take a walk on that bridge some day! Great shot!

  9. Lovely bridge and city reflections James...Peace

  10. This is a gorgeous photograph, James. I disagree about the nearest light. It needs to be there and it doesn't distract or obscure the image at all. Nice!

  11. Like you, I'd sometimes like to be able to rearrange reality to fit my photos (not that I'm comparing my paltry skills to yours). What makes this a lovely image for me, apart from the composition, is the warm hues of browns and lights.

  12. Both you and Wayne help me to appreciate my old stomping grounds so much more than I did when I lived in the Philly area. LOVE this view from the BFB!

  13. Your photo is so great to the theme, waw ;-)

  14. The railings look like a harp or strings tied to a rope..

  15. Excellent photo. It looks like such a difficult shot.

  16. Love the photo James...with or without the light. That strong leading line in constrast with the horizontal skyline and the beautifully lighted vertical lines of the bridge....what's not to love? Fantastic.

  17. Great picture James! I love this kind of light.

  18. Well James, I think the light lamp doesn't take the charm and beauty in this picture.I don't understand much about photography, I always use my feeling, my heart leads me for the sense of art,and I like the lamp, I like the shot, for me it's perfect! :)
Yesterday I was thinking of the way to have a blog changing things, mainly now when I want to take pictures.Sometimes I don't have my camera in my bag, and I see something special or different and I imagine many angles and "shots", as I could use my camera.Funny isn't it?
I think about photography all day long!
This bridge is outstanding, I hope to visit Philadelphia someday, it's a dream and I also want to come back to NY.

    Hugs
    and a nice weekend,
    Léia

  20. PS. James - re my entry, I considered it in B&W and asked my sweetheart (technically more proficient, having been a pro at one time) and he voted for the color version. Maybe next time I should post both and have you vote. :-)

  21. Je serais moins sèvère que toi ! J'aime beaucoup l'opposition de la lumière du pont et du velouté du ciel ...

    ReplyDelete
  22. No, the lamp attracts the attention to the bridge , and the bridge leads to the warm lights of the shore, so the eyes follow their way till the other edge, from a light to another..
the result is a deep picture. But I can easily imagine the cold along the river!
PS: sorry and thank you for the wrong link!

  23. you've been posting a lot of great night shots lately, this one is no exception! Really nice James!

  24. I like that lamp post, actually. I also really like the combination of the warm lighting and the white lighting at the top of the bridge...that's very stunning! I think you could have a lot of fun returning back to that bridge for the "just one more shot" excuse! It's a beauty!

  25. It is a great shot even with the bright light.

    ReplyDelete
  26. This is such a cool shot. It's got it all, movement, reflection and light.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Cool place to shoot from, I didn't realize you could walk across the Delaware River bridges... must be quite a little hike to New Jersey... that's a big bridge...

    ReplyDelete
  28. Great shot! And the view from the other side is probably more impressive.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I love all the lights- even the one you're wishing wasn't there! :)

  30. James, that first light sets the rhythm of the remainder as they appear to get closer together...

I imagine that it was a bit chilly but you were successful in getting a shot with great perspective and focus. Yes, please go to the other side to see the Phily reflection.

    Bon weekend,
    Genie

  34. A beautiful shot of bright lights and their enhancing reflections.

  35. The festive twinkling and reflection of light in this picture is superb! Love the strong light in the foreground and then other smaller lights recede, leading into the depths of theimage! delightful!

  38. Beautiful photo - and at least the lamp is the same height as the bridge and doesn't jut out into the sky.

  43. And still, it is probably this lamp, that made bright many a step.

Wishing you all the very best for the weekend and upcoming birthday as well.

  44. Oh you are brave. The height, wind and cold, the mighty river underneath, all the noisy traffic, the shaking, and at night! But you bring us to feel like we are there with you on a nocturnal adventure, rewarded with a glittering view.

    ReplyDelete
  45. The light doesn't detract for me. But it looks like you were on the other side of the railing to get the shot. THAT freaks me out.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Dynamic composition and excellent expression!
No people in your picture but each of tiny orange lights makes me feel people are right there and gives me something warm. I love this very much!!

  47. I enjoyed your photo this week, and your candidly honest write-up... although I do think that you're being a little tough on yourself.
    Thanks for hosting WR.

  66. Wow, you are really committed to get this shot. I would be tinkled pink if I had taken this shot. Where in the world did you leave your car?

    ReplyDelete
  67. I took the skyline shot from the 8th floor balcony of the Glencairn Museum. I was surprised to see Philly...so glad I looked! It was so hazy, I would love to get up there on a clear day, in the morning or at night. But I guess you need to know someone to get some of those privileges.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I don't notice the light, I see the great composition and lighted reflections.

    ReplyDelete
  69. What a beautiful image James. I love it! : ) So pretty. Night time shots are super hard for me.
