I thought about posting a somber black and white reflection of Paris but I decided against it.
I feel a real connection with France and especially Paris. The horrible acts of terrorism this week made me sad and angry. I hope strong measures are taken to insure the safety and freedom of French citizens as this cultural war continues.
Aux armes, citoyens!
As I mentioned last week, I was caught in the act photographing a reflection. This is an advertisement and its reflection is in the corner of a bus shelter. I like how the bright lights and colors seem to jump out of the darkness.
This is from Cielquimper's December 10th blog post: "The (same as usual) lights on rue de la Paroisse and the silhouette of James the photographer taking what will hopefully be a cool reflection photo!"

I think this is a terrific Paris reflection shot. In color is nice.
ReplyDeleteI too am so shocked and unspeakably sorry for Paris and the world. Thank you for your artful photo and for hosting this beautiful site.
ReplyDeleteIt is a wonderful notion to have the cheer and strength of all that color jump out of the darkness...I believe citizens will rally. I believe Paris will be protected. I saw the vigilance of the police and army when I lived there in the 90's after the subway bombings... It's always/still/forever such a shock when any human treats others in such a fashion. Thanks for the hope that comes with the color! {And I love the shot of you taking the shot!!}
ReplyDeleteyes..very shocking events in Paris...
ReplyDeletelove the bright colours in your reflections...and also love the photo of you taking the photo!
Irresistible reflection James. What a horrendous week for Paris.. these shocking things make us stronger and more determined.
ReplyDeleteGreat reflection (and so is the "caught in the act" photo)! Religion and terrorism are a bad mix.
ReplyDeleteThat's a very cool and colorful reflection. I really like the color of her hair. I'm glad you posted something bright and vibrant, we need it to offset the despicable events of this week.
ReplyDeleteIt is difficult to understand the thoughts and beliefs of terrorists and sometimes the world is not a pleasant place but then I look at the photos and comments posted on your meme and there is joy to be found. Thank you James.
ReplyDeleteWell, James, I share your sadness over this and many other tragic events we have had to witness in the past few years. I fear for the world my children will have to endure. I pray that man comes to his senses and ends this cruel and selfish nonsense.
ReplyDeleteYour picture is amazing ... the reflection looks like there is a wind gust whipping up her hair. So very cool ... and I love your silhouette ... your friend did well.

it was nice to 'see' you, james. :) bless all those touched by the paris attacks.
ReplyDeleteYes, it is a very sad moment in French History. We feel hate and fear rising... It impossible to predict what tomorrow will looks like, that makes things quite difficult not only for France but also for Europe. I can feel dark days coming upon us...
ReplyDeleteI like your pic, James, it feels "insouciante", and that exactly what we need, now, to avoid giving in to terror. We can't let three persons holding hostage the joy of a nation, can we ? :)
The picture is really nice, and I think it is right to decide to post one from Paris. Here in Germany we are so shocked, too.
ReplyDeleteIt said "error" so here it is again:)
ReplyDeleteLove the fluidness of the bright colors in your reflection. A fourth of my heritage is French, so in this way I feel connected with "je suis Charlie."
Really hope France is going to make some aggressive changes to protect their own indigenous people.
The red is sweet...anyway I did a B & W for you!...:)JP
ReplyDeleteArghhhh no this isn't Paris. Please, people read... Sorry I'm a bit on edge.
ReplyDeleteJames, elle est splendide ! Linking back to it now.
Thanks a lot to think about us in France.
ReplyDeleteLa douceur du cachemire dans ce monde si dur et fou: Show must go on!

Wow great reflection again. It leads the mind off the terrible events this week in Paris and its surroundings.
ReplyDeleteI'm shocked at the terrible acts which took place in Paris this week. On a note about your image: is the silhouette you in the right-side image? I'm submitting my first "real" reflection this week, but have far to go to match yours. Have a great day. Jo
ReplyDeletean unusually beautiful ad and thus the reflection as well.
ReplyDeleteMôj komentár sa znovu stratil? Koľký raz už?
