Bologna, Italy Asinelli Tower
Like last week, this is a reflection in a window. This impressive tower is 97 meters (318 feet) tall and was built in the 12th century. 900 hundred years old, wow! My wife climbed the 498 steps to the top and was rewarded with a spectacular view.
Unfortunately, the blue sky and tower are not the only things reflected. There are also power lines and scaffolding. You can also see light fixtures and an air vent but they are behind the glass and not reflections.
Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

900 years old! Amazing-- there are few buildings more than 50 years old within 5 miles of my home, and anything over 200 years old anywhere in the US is indeed "ancient." Kudos to your wife. Even if I had the stamina I would have had some fear that the tower's days are numbered.
ReplyDeleteLove this! I lived in Bologna for a bit many years ago and still have a special fondness for Asinelli (and Garisenda too).
ReplyDelete900 years old is a wee bit mind boggling for me James, Australia is a baby compared! It's difficult these days to get away from power lines and scaffolding, signs of the time :) it's a wonderful reflection of this ancient edifice!
ReplyDeleteImpressive indeed! Great reflection sharing both old and new world.
ReplyDeleteWhat a historic tower and an interesting design! You are both troopers to climb all these steps:):)
ReplyDeleteElle est belle cette tour, mais c'est vrai que souvent les fils électriques gâchent le paysage.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend !
Ava
what a wonderful tower! And I bet the views from the top were spectacular.
ReplyDeletetrésor de l'architecture italienne * la "déco" avec les câbles donnent un aspect contemporain au reflet * Bologna, superbe ville !
ReplyDeleteI am always amazed by the height of the old towers. Must have been quite a challenge to built them.
ReplyDeletePower lines look cool! I like the picture. Congrats to your wife. So many stairs! I'm not sure if I could climb so high.
