French Empanadas (Weekend Street/Reflections # 163)

Lyon, France

It's not the best lighting or the sharpest picture, but look at the yellow sign that says Toké. It has a bearded man wearing glasses sitting on what looks like a giant empanada. Do you think he looks like the man standing at the counter? 😉

They have several types of empanadas, I had the Jambon Fromage and the Boeuf Argentin. I hope to try the Savoyard next time.

Toké - "Venez prendre la dose de Toké que vous méritez !"

                                           Have a great weekend!

  1. Street Photography is all about the moment. Not the sharpness of the picture. Very impressive Low Light Photography either way. Kudos!

  2. Yes, it is a very weird scene to see the man on the sign in real life! Nice photo today. Thank you. And thank you for hosting. Today I captured a backlit child playing in a morning fountain spray. Aloha!

  3. I think he could do with a few less empanadas, or buy a larger size jacket.

  4. Yes it does look like him but the character on the sign seems to have reddish hair.

  5. Mrs Jim took three semesters of French after she retires. She wasn't familiar with "toke" or has forgotten this word. We both like Empanadas, last one was at the docks of Istanbul before we went into the Black Sea, 2013. Mmm, yummy!!

    1. That was me, my computer here isn't anonymous as was and is the smart phone. "Toké" is a name of five empanada specialty eateries in Lyon. The American use of the word is a draw of marijuana or the like smoke, and also the name for the verb of taking the puff.

  6. I would love to have an empanada. Your Jambon Fromage one would go great about now.

  7. When I tried to crop my picture, it disappeared under my finger. It was the one with the people taking a picture.

    Have a good weekend!
