I see you are going all out for the people shots. The colour on the top one is great, don't know what they think those ear 'disks' will look like in 40 years. Great that he posed for you.
I wonder what he's going to look like when he's my age LOL. Both photos are great my friend. Well done. Getting close and closer to your vacation :) WOOT!!!
Of the two I think I prefer the colour one. I always think that colour deals better with images that are visually busy (as this one is) whilst monochrome focuses on shapes and relationships. There are some splendid shapes in the picture too and the monochrome does emphasis these : so maybe two different photos.
In the color version, I tend to look around in the back ground. In the black and white version I tend to focus on the man. It's neat that you put the two of them up to compare. Great job. I like the composition, and the subject.
I have two minds when I look at B & W photos. One, it makes me think of when I was a kid and those were the only kind of pictures we took. But now, when I look at them, I realize that for those in the photos, the skies were blue, the grass was green etc. Regardless, they are always captivating James. By the way, how do you get to stick your name in the photo? It's a nice touch.
BTW, if you were wondering what Olivier was saying above, let me know, I will be glad to traslate for you.
There are just so many interesting people out there, I never get tired of people watching.
I like both versions. In the black and white version it almost seems as if he is super-imposed on the background..or that the background is but a back drop that he is placed in front of. In the color photo he looks better intergrated into the shot.
Oh my... word. what happened to his ear?
ReplyDeleteHe's colorful alright! So glad he doesn't call my house "home!" And, OMG...his ear! Brilliant capture!
ReplyDeletewaouhh, je préfère la version couleur, le b&w manque de puissance, mais la version couleur superbe
ReplyDeleteColorful is an understatement, I'll skip any further comment on this guy... You was right to post the color version of this very good portrait.

ReplyDeleteIt's a great picture indeed.
ReplyDeleteDid you notice there is a guy with a dog at that corner and I think he is looking at you!

ReplyDeleteJohn said it all for me...what on earth will he do with those ears later? Or maybe he'll still have the insert...
ReplyDeleteBut anyway, your photos are superb, and I can't tell which one I like better.
I am agog! The ear! O_O
ReplyDeleteWhatever we may think of the guy, the pictures are interesting. They are strong.
ReplyDeleteGreat street scene, so many things to investigate.
ReplyDeleteStreet scenes are so interesting with all the details, and the young man is a colorful character for sure.
ReplyDeleteExcellent picture!
Sunny :)
Those are some pretty colorful tattoos he is sporting! Nice shot James.
ReplyDeleteI love this shot, colorful, yes! I'm always amazed what these kids do to themselves. And always wonder what they'll look like in their 60's and 70's.
ReplyDeleteOh my. Tribal indeed. A medicine wheel and all. Did you ask him if he was wounded in battle?

ReplyDeleteI see a bright tattoo to his neck and arm.
ReplyDeleteHe is a courageous terrible man.

I definitely liked the photo in color, and immediately noticed the young man's ear! Yikes...he is indeed, a very colorful character.
