I took this picture a couple of weeks ago in Philadelphia. There was steam coming out of the ground so I thought it would make a cool effect with the people behind it. I had to get pretty low to the ground to take this shot. I can only imagine how funny I must have looked. Especially since the front of my pants were soaked by the melted snow. :)
I like the ghostly figures in the steam.
ReplyDeleteWhat we photographers go through to get our shots. This turned out great!
ReplyDeleteThe steam DID create a great shot! This is really good, therefore, the wet knees were worth it! :)
ReplyDeleteLOL...what you good photographers will do for a photo. :) LOL It is excellent. And the steam just adds so much to this. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's a fantastic shot - that's definitely worth getting yr pants wet for! But must have been cold...
ReplyDeleteI wonder if anyone took your picture taking the picture!
ReplyDeleteThe steam really gives a ghostly feel to the scene. Great shot!
Sunny :)
tres bon, et le b&w donne encore plus la sensation de froid
ReplyDeleteWhat a great picture. what a wonderful shot
ReplyDeleteSteam gives a great effect to the picture, even more in B&W. It seems to be so cold!!
ReplyDeleteI often picture photographers doing strange things to make their pictures, maybe someone had pictured you?!..Ü
This is a great shot James. But it reminds me of why I'm glad we live in Texas lol. Although they are predicting snow for Tuesday (it was 74 here Sunday, go figure). Thanks for sacrificing the icy knees to share this shot with us! Kathy
ReplyDeleteI like b&w pictures, you did a great work with this one.
ReplyDeleteIt looks so cold!
Hugs

Nice! The people behind the steam almost disappear.
ReplyDeleteI'm replacing my kitchen floor and purchased a set of knee pads that would have come in handy for this shot.
Ann beat me to it. It does look ghostly!!! Very good! Sorry about your pants...
ReplyDeleteSo much worth the result!
ReplyDeleteOh burrr.... walking around with wet pants on a cold day, not advised! ;)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely worth it to get this shot James!
ReplyDeleteAren't you accustomed to lying down on the pavement?! Very nice effect here.
ReplyDeleteOh you are making me crazy!!! I am so glad I found your blog! What a great shot. It's wonderful to see a native Californian embrace my hometown with such relish and scope. The black and white is perfect and the steam over the figures on the right... well, all I can say is Great Eye!
ReplyDeleteBeing not a lover of B&W, my appreciation for this picture, against my bias, has obviously some added value.
ReplyDeleteGreat choice and excellent framing, even the title is perfect.
Cold and steam are scenes setting off each other well.
ReplyDeleteIt is wonderful composition that some sidewalk become the slope.
Brrr I like the cold in this picture!
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Argentina, Joe
It's so cold that fog is rising! Very cool shot. Bravo for going all out to get it.
ReplyDeleteVery evocative shot.
ReplyDeleteThe things we do just to get a good picture!!! But you did well, the steam adds mystery and drama, I love it!
ReplyDeleteWow, James this is fantastic. I am always wondering what people must think of me when I am crouching or laying flat out on the ground to take a photo.
ReplyDeleteTerrific shot and well worth the wet seat. I got some wet knees from shooting low during out last little snow!
