An Amish Muscle Car
I couldn't tell if this boy was working or having fun. Maybe both. Vicki and I went to Amish Country for the first time last Saturday and I fell in love with the area. So I went back today and did several "drive by shootings" like this one.
Since the sky is so beautifully blue and one one the clouds reminds me of a heavenly arrow pointing the way for the boy and his dog, I've decided to submit this to Skywatch Friday. Just click the link and see amazing skies from all over the world.
Don't know if the boy is working or having fun, as you mention. However, it looks like the dog ahead of the team of horses is having a pretty good time! This is a great shot, James. Weather looks beautiful too.
Hi again James! Thanks for visiting...yep that song kept running through my mind as I was working on the post. 'over and over....'. The Tommy James and the Shondells version of it. Funny you thought of it too! :)
James, what a great image. Love the composition and how the boy and the dog truly seem to be having fun or just doing what their doing. It is a timeless image.
Nope, no mirrors. It was so strange to see those non-airport-issue-looking chairs in such a long row - more like an art installation, but I didn't see description of the "work" :) Or any signs not to sit.
This is an amazing photo - nice action! Those are some strong horses, and although the wagon seems to have seen better days, it's still holding up! The dog is having fun. I'll bet this could become a great area to return to often for photos.
Oh, I remember SO WELL driving along (in an automobile) with my grandfather, who would tell me all about the Amish and the Mennonites. This is a fabulous photo, well-caught!
Don't show it (!) to Fort Lauderdale Daily....he and I have been having a fun-jest about Yugos....
I know Amish people only through movies or TV, but I admit they fascinate me. I think the boy is having both fun and work; The horses are so strong! it must be difficult to drive them! The picture is full of movement and beautyful colors. It would be a gret advertising for their community!
Those are very impressive horses. I think I actually like them more than skinny Arabians. I thought the boy was standing up until I saw the high stool. And if this is just a sample, it's easy to understand why you fell in love with the Amish country there. Lovely!
You made it! Good for you. That is such an awesome shot. It looks like a beautiful day which the Amish boy, the horses, the dog, and the photographer are all enjoying! I'm so happy to see the Amish farmers haven't been completely pushed out by development. Such a peaceful scene yet so full of life. I love this shot!!!!
Boy you guys get around. I think I'll hire you as my tour guide of the area! Love the Amish and this shot. I haven't read the comments before mine, but want to make sure you know about the taboo on photographing Amish faces.
I have visited this area several times and I'm always afraid I will offend them by trying to take their picture, so I try to be discrete. This is a great action shot! I love the dog.
A lovely photo and so peaceful. The air must have been wonderful to breathe in without all the pollution from modern day vehicles. Melbourne Daily Photo
Great shot! Beautiful country and sky! I would guess that he is going back to the barn to reload. This is farming as it used to be and the Amish maintain their farms, equipment and animals in great condition. I am seeing a lot of the modern spreaders (rubber tires and pulled by tractors) around here.
Reminds us of home. We lived just 30 mins from Lancaster Co., Pa and Ruth grew up outside of Shippensburg, Pa where she had many Amish neighbors. Great Photo! Darryl and Ruth : )
Isn't it awesome out there. I am so ready for a Sunday drive to Amish Country... if only they would stop scheduling me to work on Sunday's! Beautiful picture. Some times that way of life is very tempting!
Nice Photo James. That is a common site around here. If you were in Kinzers, you were about 30 minutes from where I live. Glad you liked it...

ReplyDeleteI would so love to visit that area. Wonderful photo and great caption :)
ReplyDeleteNice shot James. Do you know what kind of muscle car he's driving? It's not the popular model. It's a manure spreader.
ReplyDeleteI love this shot James. I went to high school in an area of northern Indiana that had a large Amish community. Thanks for some fun memories! Kathy
ReplyDeleteNice shot James. :)

ReplyDeleteGreat shot and I love your title!
ReplyDeleteSunny :)
that is really neat. I love the boys silhouette against the landscape.
ReplyDeleteI can see why you fell in love with Amish Country. Great picture.
ReplyDeleteMaybe because that is a manure spreader the boy is in a hurry to get home.
You really reminded me the time of old new cars.

A great shot!:-)
Beautiful photograph..
ReplyDeleteNice shot and landscape! Lovely with the blue and green:-)
ReplyDeleteI can't say, but there is an age when fun and work are happily indistinguibile. Beutiful image, it gives a sense of purpose, joy and serenity.
ReplyDeleteWOW!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a really a exceptional and unique click!
:-)
This is an extraordinarily beautiful shot. I think maybe the boy is looking off at that heart-shaped cloud you caught there in your picture.

ReplyDeleteGood for you for researching that. I just always 'heard' he rumor so avoided it so as not to cause a problem. Now that I know....hmmmmm. :)
ReplyDeleteJames, thanks for your nice comment. Maybe I'll use the Pompeii staircase and windows on reflection day.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful shot. I love the sky, the horse and driver and the whole beautiful rural scene.
ReplyDeleteAmazing! Wonderful and interesting place.
ReplyDeleteGoing to the link now.
Thank you for sharing James.
Happy weekend and spring.

What a fab picture - it looks like a still from a movie. xo
ReplyDeleteThe more «Louis» learns about the Amish, the more respect he has for them.
ReplyDeleteJames this is such a captivating photograph...I can't stop looking at it! Well done and thank you so much for sharing it!
ReplyDeleteSmiles
I wonder if the horses envy the dog's freedom!
ReplyDeleteAwesome action shot with the horses, lovely almost cloudless blue sky. Thanks for sharing James:)
ReplyDeleteGreat shot, Love the title.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful shot of those running horses, Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHi James, the clouds remind me a dancing fairy leading the "muscled" man to its destination!
ReplyDeleteI agree, I love the title post.
This is so beautifully captured and composed that it should be hanging on a museum about Americana.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot! The cloud looks like the space shuttle, I think...
ReplyDeleteYou certainly captured a great moment.
Great shot James. The open landscape provides a space in the picture.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend:-)
What a great shot. Not just the skies but the muscular horses, the dog, the geen fields, and that muddy wagon.
ReplyDeleteA lovely photo and so peaceful. The air must have been wonderful to breathe in without all the pollution from modern day vehicles.
