At first I could only see his smoke. Then a hand with a cigarette popped out. Then his head. After a short staring match he slowly disappeared behind the the bricks leaving only a lit cigarette, the stench of burning tobacco and an aire of mystery.

He looks so mysterious, or maybe just camera shy!
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy your people pictures, you manage to find such interesting subjects. All I find are cows and sheep! LOL
ReplyDeleteSunny :)
Love them. Your photos are really interesting and beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI find him mysterious, but not shy.. I'd like to picture people, but I never dare! And this one..I'm glad you took the picture, because I find it great and impressive, but I would not dare to picture this boy, he does not look very friendly..
ReplyDeletedeux tres bonnes photos, j'adore
ReplyDeleteAs for the Chinatown series, human essence is expressed and is very interesting.
ReplyDeleteI like the movie screen cut of the image, the colors and the genuine gesture you have caught.
ReplyDeleteCool pictures but I would like to know what that white contraption is. Odd.
ReplyDeleteNeat photo. Did he mind that you took his photo? Just curious; sometimes I find people that you just 'snap' wonder who you are....
ReplyDeleteLove the first image
ReplyDeleteA very fun street picture!
ReplyDeleteI agree with VP, it's a fabulous movie scene image!
ReplyDeleteJames...You are so talented!
Léia :)
Probably wasn't supposed to be smoking, told his wife he'd quit.. now she knows!
ReplyDelete;)
Great photos.
These are great pictures James! Maybe he thought you were trying to catch him doing something he wasn't supposed to be doing.
ReplyDeleteHe looks like he is up to something peeking around the corner of the building. Even he cannot stand his own smoke...he sticks the cigarette out out so others can choke on it.
ReplyDeleteAmazing capture! I wonder if you used a long lens and he really didn't see you...
It almost looks like a scene from a Western movie!
ReplyDeleteVery intriguing! I love the snow captured in the background as well.
ReplyDeleteWow! Great and interesting pictures:-)
ReplyDeletehee hee
ReplyDeleteInscrutable...
James - re the wind farms: this one is on Altamont Pass east of Livermore off of I-580, so, yes, it has been here at least 25 years.
ReplyDelete"...a short staring match" -good one James!
ReplyDeleteYou have just made the Introduction to a thriller :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff, James!
ReplyDeleteInteresting .... Great city, but never been to Chinatown. Last time I visited Phila was in 2008, like to back soon and to see my cousins new baby :o)
ReplyDeleteWish you a great weekend ... mine starts now (Norway is 6 hours ahead)
Excellent!
ReplyDeleteI love candid shots of people but I rarely dare. So many of mine are taken from behind when they aren't directly looking at me cause I'm just too shy to confront strangers head on.
ReplyDeleteSo I appreciate the bravery here. I also perused your Chinatown link and thoroughly enjoyed the trip.
Your enthusiasm for just about any subject no matter how grand or minute, and for life in all its aspects is clearly evident in your work.
Why didn't I see the snow...pffft. Good eyes Thom. Thanks for clarifying this for me. :) Have a great weekend :)
ReplyDeleteIt is a fascinating place, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteThese are great. That was a shot I might (probably) would have overlooked.
ReplyDeleteJames, great shots! Beautiful. Thank you for your words.
