The Statue of Liberty from a Distance

A nice view of the Hudson River (I wonder what I'll see if I use my zoom?)

Wow! That's the Statue of Liberty! This picture was taken from the same spot as the top one(what a difference a zoom makes!)
It was getting late in the day and we were about to head back to the train station when a lady saw me looking at my map and asked if she could be of assistance. She said she's lived in Lower Manhattan for 30 yrs. I told her that we didn't need any directions but before I knew it she was leading us to a river walk type park which was the opposite direction from the train station. We were both exhausted after walking all day but I was glad that we made the final trek to the water because I was surprised with my first ever sighting of the Statue of Liberty.
I can't wait to get a closer look.

    The zoom is really crisp and clear. I'm surprised at how near it makes the statue appear.

    that is a great zoom. I did see the statue in the top but I wasn't totally sure if that was it, now I know! Glad you put these two together.

    Mmm, I'd love to have a camera like yours. I'd say no to seeing the statue in the top one, but I guess it's that black triangle speck in the middle?

    I have to look on my computer. I can't see it on my iPhone. I love the zoom and the story with it. The first time I saw Her in person I had no idea she was green. Totally amazing photos.

    You can see for miles and miles...but I couldn't spot the Lady Liberty till it was pointed out. very cool to have a wide and close view.

    Did you see the model for Lady Liberty on that little island in the Seine not far from the Eiffel Tower in Paris? Also, the model for her flame is on the Avenue New York side of Pont de l'Alma.

    Wow, that's a powerful zoom lens you got. Even enlarged, I could barely make out the line that's the statue in the top photo. Good thing the tent's there to help place it.

    Your photos of the NY skyline and Lady Liberty are wonderful, James.
    When I was young I climbed inside The Statue of Liberty and it is an inspiring experience.

    Did you get a new zoom lens too? Tell us the details, please do... I have a zoom but was thinking of getting one with image stabilization. Not sure if that would be before or after a macro.

    I found it after I looked at your second picture! The Statue of Liberty is one of my favorites. Years ago I took my kids up to the top and we got to go in the crown and look out the windows. I also took them to the top of one of the World Trade Center towers. So glad we have those memories now!

    Yes the zoom really helps. But your first shot is a great shot of the water! For a preview of the view from the Statue, see my posts New York and Statue. Before you go check the National Park Service web site for info on reservations and ferry schedule to the island.
