I love taking pictures of ruins and old abandoned buildings. This one is in Tyler State Park in Newtown. It's part of an old homestead that's now used seasonally as a hostel. I posted another picture of it on my Something Sighted blog. I took the top photo from inside of the building.
Beautiful composition James, I love the first shot! There are more ruins I found along RTE 66.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool looking building! I love the different textures of it, and the moss growing on the roof! I'm always on the lookout for old barns, too!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful in color but I prefer the B&W :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous old building! Thanks so much for stopping by and the good wishes. I've been a bit remiss in my blogging - just a bit busy :) But I got a really cool reflection shot at a parade last week that I can't wait to share. Kathy
ReplyDeleteOh... I love it... this could very easily become one of my dream houses... And the youth hostel sign is a funny touch... not too many youths are going to want to hostel there...
ReplyDeleteJames, lovely images. Great composition and color.
ReplyDeleteWow, I love the color in these photos. I haven't seen the black and white yet...but, I am sure it is amazing as well. I am curious about the "Youth Hostel" sign...an added bonus for this scene. Beautiful, James!
ReplyDeletela première photo est magnifique, une superbe lumière et un beau cadre
ReplyDeleteI'm with you James, I love old building/barns, etc.
ReplyDeleteThese pictures are wonderful, I like how the window framed the first one.
Sunny :)
I agree--that is perfection. It has a hobbity feel to it don't you think?
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful - all that lush green grass. I would love to roll about in it. All the grass here is about gone and we'll have to wait for late September to see it again.
ReplyDeleteThe first shot must have been taken through the window of the old house. I love the framed effect. And the greens are glorious.
ReplyDeleteLove the colour! You live in a super place, the country side seems wonderful:)
ReplyDeleteI share your passion for old buildings. Look at that nice, fluffy grass, too!

ReplyDeleteyeah! Nice find! Love the textures of the old house in ruins - the exposed stone and cracking plaster (plaster?) Nicely captured, and makes you think about the work and craftsmanship that went into this building such a long time ago.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots! My favourite is the last one, I just loved those stones. This place looks be beautiful, it's a pity that it's abandoned!
ReplyDeleteLéia
You've captured the character of the place. We often ride out bikes there as my in-laws live just outside of the park.
ReplyDeleteLooks like it just needs some TLC. It is very photogenic.
ReplyDeleteWho says that ruins can't be picturesque? This is gorgeous and even the kind of ruin looks natural and almost... respectful! Excellent images, wonderful colors.
ReplyDeleteIt`s so beautiful. Great place and color.
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely James. The sign in the doorway adds the perfect touch!
ReplyDeleteI love the dreamlike quality of these shots with the soft mossy flower dotted foreground leading to this man-made structure feeling the effects of time. The colors and compositions are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI would love to explore there! That is such an interesting old building! Your photos are so perfect.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Lois - the sign in the doorway adds the final perfect touch!
You're an explorer at heart! I would love this too, it's a fantastic place for photos.
ReplyDeleteBellissima questa composizione di foto... il verde dell'erba sembra magico...
ReplyDeleteMi piacciono molto ;-)
I would so love to visit this area. This building is so pretty and too bad it isn't being restored.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a promise to become true, allowing life to leave being youth.
ReplyDeletePlease have a wonderful Thursday.
daily athens
a little spooky to think they still use it as a hostel...
ReplyDeleteI'm not staying there!
Great shot of this old house! I love it all including the frame.
ReplyDeleteThe Nature transcends time.
ReplyDeleteIt sure has character.
ReplyDeleteGreat minds think alike! LOL! I made the exact same photo from inside an old shed a couple of weeks ago!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos and truly a nice composition.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure at least one of the comments have already noted how great it is that "hostel" is what the sign says. Strange to think of that building being a low-riced way-station in the middle of what appears to be nowhere.
