Another Abstract Reflection (Weekend Reflections # 30)

I took this picture in the same park as last week's Weekend Reflection photo. It wasn't the best time of the day for photography but I had my camera and I noticed that this rock's reflection in the creek looked better than the rock itself because of the bright sun. It reminds me of something I just can't figure out what. :)

  4. The rock reminds «Louis» of the Rock of Gibraltar.

«Louis'» weekend reflection post publishes at midnight Paris time. He linked to McLinky too soon...

  16. That is beautiful. It reminds me of the Pyramids for some reason or one of those hats (I wish I knew the name but I can picture it in my mind) I like this a lot and when the reflection is better than the original I like it even more. Very nice photo my friend. TBK Have a great weekend :)

  18. I was noticing the reflection has more detail than the actual rock. How very lovely. In fact, stunning. This photo has a feeling about it I can't really put into words.

  19. This is great and the fact that the reflection looks better than the rock actually showcases the reflection, I think. It's similar to the rock reflection I posted last week from Yosemite's Mirror Lake/Tenaya Creek.

  23. You are right about the time of day James. The extreme contrasts are near impossible to capture especially with digital or color transparency film.

It's still a good shot and you were there with a camera. How could you not take this photo?

Now imagine this scene with early morning (or late afternoon) light. Warm with long shadows. Maybe you'll have the opportunity to return. Meanwhile let's enjoy this fine image.

  25. It is reminiscent of the pyramids in Egypt for me, Jame. A really good example of a reflection.

  26. Beautiful shape and colors. Together the rock and its reflection look like the profile of some animal's head, maybe a dog.

  37. I love the reflection! A CP filter would have taken the exposure edge off the face of that rock and it would be interesting to see what it would have done to the reflection.

  38. I love this, I have a fondness for abstract looking water shots :) I agree with Louis, it reminds me of the Rock of Gibralter. Kathy
