Flight of a Great Egret (Weekend Reflections # 49)

This great egret was flying near by so I decided to try panning. I know it's far from perfect but It's better than I expected. I'm glad that I was able to capture the reflection of the bird on the water. There is also the blurred reflection of the trees and bushes.

  8. Pretty good job with the pan. Shooting birds in flight is really difficult, and takes lots of practice to get consistently. I have hundreds of lousy shots for each good one.

  17. Maybe you say it's far from perfect because you were hoping it would come out clear and detailed like a National Geographic photo. But I think your image captures the idea and feeling of flight rather than a frozen moment. It's a challenging shot and I think you nailed it.

  25. I could never do that. It's wonderful my friend. I like how the reflection of the egret is clearer than the rest in the water. But there again, I suppose that's how it's suppose to be LOL. Have a great weekend :)

  26. Her lovely eyes.
And slender both legs. . .

However, I feel the freedom from the figure.

  43. What a great capture. I love this one so much. I'm pretty sure that I've said this before but even though I haven't gotten it together to participate in this theme, I enjoy seeing the reflection shots others who do participate post when I'm visiting some of the blogs I visit. It's kind of funny to thank someone for starting a meme I don't participate in but I feel like saying thank you every time I'm at a blog and see a cool reflection they are posting for this theme you started.

  48. I almost thought they were 2 birds. Egrets are called Kotutu in Maori in New Zealand. My teaching space is called Kotuku.

  61. This is a totally awesome shot. The movement doesn't make it flawed. That is the perfection. You didn't stop the bird in flight, you caught the bird in flight.

    ReplyDelete
