This great egret was flying near by so I decided to try panning. I know it's far from perfect but It's better than I expected. I'm glad that I was able to capture the reflection of the bird on the water. There is also the blurred reflection of the trees and bushes.

Amazing photo, James! It appears as an impressionist's canvas with a perfect great egret on the top layer.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Dear James,
ReplyDeleteExcellent capture, what a perfect moment,a toast to life!Your artwork for me it's perfect.I would like so much to learn more about these techniques, and I bet you have lots of fun during the process of art!
And, the bird is CUTE! :)

Pretty good job with the pan. Shooting birds in flight is really difficult, and takes lots of practice to get consistently. I have hundreds of lousy shots for each good one.
ReplyDeleteWow, beautiful reflection picture James.
ReplyDeleteYou can be glad … it's a wonderful capture.
ReplyDeleteCaptivating Piece

Me Heart :)
You just caught a short moment, a breath! and in a marvellous way!It seems that time has stopped for a second, and that the bird is suspended between two movements of its wings....
ReplyDeleteBeautiful James. Love the reflection and how the bird is flying. Really nice.
ReplyDeleteBonjour cher James!
ReplyDeleteJe suis tellement heureuse aujourd'hui parce que maman a fait un post avec reflets! :)

Fantastic image! Love the blurred background.
ReplyDeleteThat is an truly amazing photograph.
ReplyDeleteAn English Girl Rambles
Maybe you say it's far from perfect because you were hoping it would come out clear and detailed like a National Geographic photo. But I think your image captures the idea and feeling of flight rather than a frozen moment. It's a challenging shot and I think you nailed it.
ReplyDeleteThis took my breath away when I opened it! What marvelous light and color and that wonderful Egret and reflection...wow, James. This is A+++ in my grade book!
ReplyDeleteThe clearest feature is the bird's eyeball, James. Not perfect? I don't know, but it makes me feel good.
ReplyDeleteThe Fred Effect: News Headlines

ReplyDeleteYou're a wizard, aren't ya? Amazingly beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThis is a fabulous, reflective shot!
ReplyDeleteI could never do that. It's wonderful my friend. I like how the reflection of the egret is clearer than the rest in the water. But there again, I suppose that's how it's suppose to be LOL. Have a great weekend :)
ReplyDeleteHer lovely eyes.
ReplyDeleteAnd slender both legs. . .
However, I feel the freedom from the figure.
The snow-white clothes melt into green of the Nature.

ReplyDeleteHi James,
ReplyDeletequesta è una straordinaria immagine riflessa.
Bellissima questa sensazione di libertà :)
Buona giornata.
This photo is awesome!
ReplyDeleteThe background is an entire reflection itself, and is the perfect backdrop for the reflected bird. Nice one James.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful is the bird flying over the water. Well done reflection ;))
ReplyDeleteFantastic capture, love the sheen on that water
ReplyDeleteI think you did a great job panning this shot. The egret is very clear, only its wingtips are blurred. I like it.
ReplyDeleteIncredible, impressive moment with the dramatic spread of wings reflected in the water! Very beautiful!
ReplyDeleteNice shot James. It's so graceful. Happy weekend, Ev
ReplyDeleteUn reflet en plein vol. Une magnifique photo, j'aime beaucoup. Bon week-end :-).
ReplyDeleteA fantastic reflection. Egrets/herons are one of my favorite birds!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great capture. I love this one so much. I'm pretty sure that I've said this before but even though I haven't gotten it together to participate in this theme, I enjoy seeing the reflection shots others who do participate post when I'm visiting some of the blogs I visit. It's kind of funny to thank someone for starting a meme I don't participate in but I feel like saying thank you every time I'm at a blog and see a cool reflection they are posting for this theme you started.
ReplyDeletenice shot! love the reflection. you can't see it here but isn't it amazing how long their necks are?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shot!
ReplyDeletePanning. I've got to remember that. If I can do anywhere near as well as you have done I would be well pleased.
ReplyDeleteBesides my offical linked post I had another great reflection yesterday.
Impressive reflection !
ReplyDeleteGreat capture of it in flight!
ReplyDeleteThat is a spectacular photograph!
ReplyDeleteMy first entry to Weekend Reflections is up! On a photo meme tear!
Thank for hosting and have a great weekend. Peace
I almost thought they were 2 birds. Egrets are called Kotutu in Maori in New Zealand. My teaching space is called Kotuku.
ReplyDeleteNow that is a great capture; good panning.
ReplyDeleteIts captivating. Lovely one James.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend.
Regards.
" Regina "
terrific shot! your lucky that you've captured that one. am having trouble capturing birds in flight.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful shot! But you're so popular I doubt if you'll ever get as far as my comment!
ReplyDeleteJ'admire cette photo ! La netteté du sujet sur le fond flou et le contraste blanc vert : parfait !
ReplyDeleteUn superbe photo: en plein vol!!!
ReplyDeleteBravo

ReplyDeleteNow I must go look up panning...
spectacular capture and a tough one too
ReplyDeletemagnifique il n y a pas d autre mot !!!

I think it is absolutely wonderful. Magical.
ReplyDeleteLooks perfect to me!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful, and you captured it. Anna :)
Beautiful! I love the sense of motion
ReplyDeleteI would love to hang a print of that on my wall too. It's stunning!
ReplyDeleteThis is a totally awesome shot. The movement doesn't make it flawed. That is the perfection. You didn't stop the bird in flight, you caught the bird in flight.
ReplyDeleteIt may not be 'perfect' but it's a beautiful shot. The impressionistic background really does give it a sense of movement.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing photo of the egret and its reflection.
ReplyDeleteI can feel the green stillness. Love this so much!!
ReplyDeleteIt's simply beautiful James... I don't know what perfection means... but beauty does not need to be qualified by perfection I think... you nailed this one...
ReplyDeleteOh!!! It's absolutely beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWould make a beautiful picture to hang!!
Junie
I think it's a great shot James. The combination of the water, the colors and the bird work to perfection.
