Crossing the Delaware

I took these pictures today while crossing the Delaware river into New Jersey just a few miles away from George Washington's famous crossing in 1776. My crossing was a lot warmer and the bridge made it a lot easier.

    I love the swan. How nice to be able to explore the places where our nation began. While it's true there is a lot of history here in our native California, I feel a greater connection to the east coast.

    Your connection to George Washington's crossing made me wonder how many people would stop to even think of the significance of that moment. Or even that spot for that matter! Great stuff James!

    It looks like the swan could use a lift from General Washington's boat... or yours. We lived in Newark, Delaware when I was in college and I remember driving up into New Jersey, down to Cape May and across to the southern tip of Delaware and then back up the state... all in an afternoon.

    Great shots, James! I wonder if that is one of the same swans that I have photos of...
    If you can, you should try to make it to Washington's Crossing on Christmas Day - they reenact the original crossing. I haven't been there in MANY years, and the last time I went it was so cold out that my camera froze, but it is still worth it. A fun thing to do on Christmas day between the gift opening and early dinner.
