I'm sure this old barn has seen better days but I think it's beautiful in this state of disrepair. I posted a black and white version at my Something Sighted blog.
Both pix are really nice. I usually enjoy the color, but the the light is striking in the composition you did in b&w. Old things are such fun (unless you're the owner, I imagine).
I am another fan of disreapair, even if it seems quite bad said like this. You found the right place and shot a good photo. Maybe the season add something to the effect...
Nicely composed James. Unfortunately I have many such shots of outbuildings on many of Minnesota's outstate farms... a sad state of affairs for American farmers.
I've never met a barn I didn't like and it saddens me to see such beauties in disrepair. This is a really good picture, I especially like the silos with the ivy. Hope your back is feeling better. Sunny :)
I think this old barn is beautiful in it's stae of disrepair, too. This picture shows what I remember November looking like. :) Love it! Thanks for sharing :)
I love pictures of old abandoned buildings, and this is a really nice one. Are you familiar with Troy Paiva's "Lost America" work? I think you'd enjoy it. Kathy
I really like this photo. It is sad to see buildings like this, wonder what happened? It brought me a smile though as it made me think of my grandparents farm. Many happy memories there.

I love this photo my friend. Well done :)
It is beautiful....like many old things.
It's sad and very beautiful at the same time!
You made it shine again with your picture!
Hi again, James. Re: your comment on my photo today, you can read more about the statue and building right here.
I prefer the colour version to the B&W. Quantity of sky has a lot to do with my reaction.
I too like to see buildings that are in a state of disrepair. Old is beautiful.

I prefered the B&W version, but this one has also a strange and attractive mood..Colors are soft and beautyful.
It's so amazing how old things grow in beauty although from a different perspective!

I like both versions but I like the colored one better. I love the way old weathered wood looks. And, I love old barns.
There is something picturesque about tumble down barns.
I like how the skies complement the mood of the barn.
Now this is a great shot. You can almost see it when it was in its prime.
Too bad for this barn...

I agree. Old and disheveled makes for a good photo.

that's a picture that tells a story
Looks great. I love places like this.
It looks rather spooky!

Hi James. how are you doing? I guess your already excited with your trip in Europe. I wish you a great one!
you can browse my Explore Germany site for photos about Rottenburg...yup I was there too! I will post more pictures soon.
Fab shot! I love the nostalgia of your blog....
This is the perfect setting for a mystery short story. It's a beautiful place, however forlorn it looks.
I am finding such beauty in "dying" and old things myself.... lovely.
yes it is beautiful in its disrepair...
It's a pity, they could restore this place! It's interesting!

For some reason, I'm very attracted to old buildings, and their stories. This one looks very interesting. I like the caved roof with the tiles.
It's certainly attractive for photos (colour or b&w), but it certainly also gives a very sad impression!
This is sort of sad, but a common sight in the mid-west. Great capture!

The owner may have other thoughts, but from a photographic perspective it is beautiful.
Hi James, you always have great finds. I like this photo the way it is.
You take care of your back James!
Wow, what a treasure ! And talk about a looming sky...
It's not so much the state of disrepair that I find beautiful, but the fact that nature is taking back its space.
The same place but now in colour. Now I can´t decide which I like more!
This is the most interesting barn I've ever seen!
