My Walk in a Blizzard

I've been waiting for it to snow and yesterday a blizzard blew in so I decided to leave the car parked and go for a walk.

This is a little further down the road from the last picture.

It wasn't snowing very hard but the wind was starting to pick up when I went in for a closer look at this mailbox. I bet there were a few birds that could have used it for shelter last night.

I walked a little more and onto a little one lane bridge. That's when I saw this Christmas tree hiding beside the creek. It must be a good spot because it made it through another Christmas with it's roots intact.

You might have noticed this old house in one of the pictures above. It sits beside on the other side of the creek from the Christmas tree.

I stood here for a while admiring the old house and noticed that it was built in 1831. Id love to look inside.

I walked some more and then took some shots of this old building and train tracks. I'd been cold for a while but this is when the reality of having to walk home hit me. It was really cold and I was covered in snow but even worse so was my camera and lens.
After I took some pictures of this building I stopped at Starbucks for a much needed hot chocolate. Then I finally made it home. That's when the blizzard really hit.

Merry Christmas (Weekend Reflections # 66)

Even with all the pictures that I took in New York last weekend it was hard to find one that had reflections and a Christmas theme. This is a giant wreath on the Waldorf Astoria hotel and the Christmas decorations have buildings people and yellow taxis reflected in them. I didn't count them but this might be a record for the most reflections that I've posted at once.
I'll be posting the rest of the NYC photos as well as my photos of Europe at on my other blog. One of my New Years goals is to keep this blog more true to it's name. :)

From one Tree to Another? (Weekend Reflections # 65)

I wonder if the leaves thought they were going home. I'm not a poet but if I were I'd write a poem about this. :)

I'm leaving on Saturday and I'll be away for a few days.

Sycamore Street Last Night

When I lived in California I thought the low 50's F was cold. Then when I moved to Texas my cold threshold lowered to the low 40's. Now I consider the low 30's cold. It's 27F as I type this but yesterday's temps ranged from 17 to 22F and the wind chill brought it much lower. We even got a little bit of snow. I just wish that it would fall for longer than a few minutes. By the time I put on my coat and went outside the snow stopped falling. Picnik's snow effect fixed that problem. :)

The Sun Setting on Two Houses

The Above photo is an old abandoned house that I pass by all of the time. The setting sunlight was so nice this time that I finally stopped and took a few shots. I also took some shots of some ruins and the abandoned house next door. I'll post them another time.

A couple of weeks ago I rushed out to take some pictures of the setting sun but I was almost too late. In my hurried up state I fumbled around and dropped my camera in the weeds. I decided to take a shot while I was down there picking up the camera. I think the weeds and lighting give it an other worldly look. It almost as if the night was being pulled down like a curtain. I think next time I'll try to get more shots of that big beautiful tree.
The house in the bottom photo is the same house as the one in my post titled "An Old House Nestled in the Tall Grass" except from a different vantage point and time of day.

Old Barns and Farms

These are two different farms around Newtown. You might remember Stone Meadows Farm from a black and white photo last week. The top one will be my photo for the Old Barns meme at Bluff Area Daily.
The one thing that my last several posts have in common is that all of the photos were taken with a point and shoot camera and if I didn't remember to put it in my pocket I would have missed them. :)

Old Industrial Reflection (Weekend Reflections # 64)

I saw this old industrial building as I drove by and since I had a camera in my pocket I turned around. The reflection was a nice bonus. :)

Changing Seasons

A time to slow down

A time to watch and listen

A time to enjoy the warmth and comforts of home
The sky is gray, there's a chill in the air, the scent of burning wood is all around and the sound of geese fill my ears. I love this time of year!

The Odd Tree Out

Stone Meadows Farm Newtown, PA

Actor Ezra Stone who was famous for playing Henry Aldrich back in the 1930's and 40's lived here until his death in 1994. That was before my time but I can still remember watching old cartoons that made fun of Henry. His mother would say HEN-RY, HEN-RY ALDRICH! and Henry would reply "coming mother"
Any old timers out there remember Henry Aldrich? :)

Beaubourg Reflections (Weekend Reflections # 63)

Modern art and natural beauty of the sky are reflected in very shallow water at the outside area of the top floor restaurant in the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris.

For some reason I get serious deja vu when I look at this photo.
I wonder if I posted a similar one before? If so I couldn't find it. :)
