Hard to believe that the fields get plowed that way, such a simple (get challenging) way of life. Beautiful reflection.

What a wonderful pastoral scene of the old ways, reflected in the mirror of a modern car.
Great that both can exist side by side.

Love the countryside and the reflections. So classic.
Beautiful capture James.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Truly nice country side. Great reflection!

Dianne said...

you composed this so perfectly
your mirror is a wonderful frame for the scene
there is something about the sense of moving away from the farm that makes the photo so touching

The modern frame of your car for an old fashion farm scenery..Great!
Do you remember the movie "Witness", with Harrison Ford?Same mood!..

An awesome rural scene framed perfectly in that mirror!
I'm assuming that might be an Amish farmer with his horses.

Mine's on my photoblog this week - Carletta's Captures. :)

The undulation lets me feel Nature.
Yes. It is very quiet scenery.

Thank you, JAMES.

Great composition! And the tree adds much to the scene. We went through PA last weekend and saw some of the beauty in the hills along I-78.

Another great shot James! I like the title too because you are not only "Looking Back" in your mirror, it seems that you are looking back to an earlier time and place of history. I simply love looking back to my past through your lens. Amish Country was always a favorite of mine too when I lived there. Makes me misty-eyed...

Nice of the countryside. :) It's nicely framed by the mirror.

A beautifully framed rear view! It is a little like reflecting on a wonderful memory!

Hilda said...

I like it that the horses are moving away from you, and you are moving away from them. Adds a poignancy to the image.

Ploughing with a team of horses captured in a
modern mirror and what a great perspective! This is
a unique view of a work of art in the farming
tradition.

A terrific view of the countryside capture at a car rear view mirror. Good job!

Great shot. I love that it is so clear. And, remember, objects in mirror are closer than they appear.

It's early spring. He's made only a few passes. It's last year's stubble. He's just making a new start. I'm a farm kid from Kansas. I used to drive a semi from Columbia, Missouri to Newcastle, Delaware. I loved taking those two-lanes out of Harrisburg. These farmers and their teams always used to make me catch my breath.

Fred Miller said...

I do believe the farmer and team are reflected again in the window of the rear door of the car.

Clytie said...

How do you do it? I think every single one of us has taken one of those 'rear view mirror' shots - but yours is so much more!!! You show an entire WORLD in there!!

A beautiful reflection of where you've been, James. A peaceful country scene.

Reflecting back reminds me...hope all is well with your back.
be well, be Happy ;)

Very nicely done. Photos done in car mirrors could be a whole meme in itself. I remember a self portrait I did once in one that was one of my top faves, as it had a wonderful scene also. Nice capture!

How many horses were there? Did you frighten the horses when you drove past?

I happen to go past a horse and rider yesterday, but my camera was too slow.

For when are you planning your vacation to Brussels ? If I am home we could have a drink together. Waterloo is only 15 km from Brussels it's rather considered as a suburb. If you want to read more about Brussels and Belgium you should go to my travel blog http://gattinatravels.blogspot.com/ In the sidebar you will find an index.

For me there is no problem, I am retired anyway, and have all the time of the world ! The only thing is I might be on my yearly holidays in Egypt at that time to escape the horrible weather we have here in November (hopefully it's still nice for you in October !) This year everything is a little different because I will become a grandma in November ! So I can't make big plans. My son and DIL live in Amsterdam.
It would be very nice to meet ! Antwerp too is a beautiful town !
BTW don't you have an email ? It's easier to communicate.
