Newport Beach, California (Little Balboa Island)
I wish this was a photo of Venice but it's not.
Grand Canal is the name of the walkways on both sides of this canal. Balboa is actually two islands that are connected by a bridge. This is a photo of the little island. I go to Balboa Island almost every night to walk and take pictures. I think both islands combined are only about two miles around so it's a wonder that I'm not bored with it yet.

Beautiful lighting James. The stillness of the water, the calm reflection convey a sense of quiet. Only the flag waving in the breeze hints at movement.
Splendid reflections! Usually I take my daily walks starting outside my house - but I'm not bored either.
James, the night photo hunter.
You always find new things of beauty, so slim chance of getting bored.
Remarkable night reflections James!
I always love your night reflections, James! And you do indeed find so many fantastic night shots! Hope you have a lovely weekend! Enjoy!

Nice photo. Wonderful reflection night. Transmits a lot of serenity. Saludos.
Well if you did tell us that it was Venice I would have find it hard to believe because of the Stars and Stripes waving us... :D
It is a nice shot anyway. I like how you manage to capture the quietness of the night in your nightshots : they are always so peaceful... And it is quite strange, to, cause evening are usually full of life, though...
Gorgeous! A place I need to explore. There is also a Venice Canal in Venice Beach.
A fabulous night shot once again James! Have a great weekend.
With sights like this, how can a photographer get board? Great shot, as always!
your water night shots are always so superb. extraordinary. I could take a few pointers from you I'm sure. happy weekend to you James. and thanks for hosting WR each week.
A place does not need to be tall to offer many views, moods, corners to picture. A lot depends on the eye of the one who is looking at it..and you have a perfect eye!
You have captured the light perfectly. The reflections are wonderful. A very beautiful image. Well done.
How could anyone get bored with that? Beautiful!
The color in this is what I notice...yellow from the sodium vapor lights predominates, but there is white here and there to show that the yellow is not a mistake! Beautiful!
Just lovely - close enough to Venice to me!

That's a house in my style, great photo with the lighting and reflection in the water.
We were thinking alike this week, James. I love your Grand Canal—looks like a lovely place to stroll.
A warm golden night glow reflected... everything calm; only the flag blowing hints at a breeze. I can't imagine with your eye you'll ever be bored, James.
That's a nice walk every evening! Neat reflections. Maybe our rain will stay away long enough to go on a walk tonight!
beautiful golden glows!
Looks beautiful, nice light :)
Beautiful golds in the night light! And the reflections are like trails of radiant gold paint!
Love the warm tones in this image, such beautiful lighting.
I love night shots. And they're even better when combined with a reflection! :)
Lovely place ... well captured! Enjoy your weekend!
Irene
It is a thing of beauty!
You must know every corner and every street of quaint Balboa now:) It's great views change depending on the weather and time of day!
The mood in your pic made me think of Edward Hopper -a great capture!
Very nice reflection. I was in Balboa earlier this summer. Lovely little place. The beach there was PACKED!! Have a nice weekend. Mickie :)
I'm in love with that house ...and your picture of cours !!!
How could you be bored with reflections like that? Walking where there is water is always rewarding with changes of weather and light. Nice shot indeed.
Another great one, James. Someday I'm going to put myself where I can get a night reflection.
Wonderful reflections, but Venice looks a little different, lol !
Great nightshot James. Also a nice reflection.
That canal has offered you some really great shots....I think it will be quite awhile before you're bored. Plus it has 2 sides. I imagine early morning light might be beautiful here too, if the sun is cooperative.
Happy weekend James.
Wow!
Wonderful reflection and woderful night shot!
;-)
JUST LOVELY, JAMES!
Great night shot as always, James. You're in a prime location for good reflection opportunities and you're soing it well!
You are so cool with these night shots. And you must have a fine lens to get the angles so true. I love your eye and what results you get.
Bonjour James,
This picture is magnificent, adorable lights and beautiful reflections!

Great light, great reflection. This is an awesome shot. And what a wonderful place for an evening walk.
Hey James... looks like life is on easy street, strolling by the water, taking in the light. Could be worse fates in life I think. The architecture of this house is a bit boxy for my taste, I think I like the reflected half better, it is dreamier than the real part. Although I drove by there once or twice while living in San Diego, I never got to Balboa. Will look forward to seeing more through your gifted lens eye...
I love the warmth of your photo. As one who spent many days and nights wandering Balboa Island I can not imagine ever becoming bored of the island.
Wow, wonderful.
wOw! nice nice nice!
A beautiful shot of a beautiful spot!!!
Nice one James! I also love Balboa. I don't get to it as often as you though.
Love it beautiful lighting and reflection.
