The eagle and lamp strut their stuff in front of a beautiful Philadelphia sky. These are three views of part of the bridge that I was standing on when I took these pictures. The eagle is the national bird of the United States, and Philadelphia was the birthplace of the United States, so images of eagles can be found all over the city. Philadelphia's NFL football team is also called the Eagles.

These are really super pictures, the eagles are very impressive. I love the plane in the last shot.
Sunny :)
James, awesome sculpture! Looks like the plane in the last shot is gettin' ready to fly right into its mouth! And thanks for the history memory jog! Most folks would've thought Jamestown, VA or Plymouth, MA...HA!
Excellent and superb shots!
I must admit, I didn't know this about Philadelphia and the USA. Interesting info and stunning photos, thanks for sharing!
Beautiful skies and fantastic eagle. Have a nice day
Cool! In the last photo it looks like the eagle might be thinking about making that plane a bit of his lunch, snap it right out of the sky...nummy. ;)
Wow! Beautiful perspective on that eagle! I also love the airplane in the last photo...it brings the image into present! Beautiful!
Magnifique (surtout la premiere) et bonne idee de nous faire tourner autour
Very nice. Especially like the bottom shot.
ohmigod, what a fabulous angle! Amazing shots!

That is a fascinating light, James. Reminds me of a Hydra. Terrific angle for the first shot!
I was just in Philadelphia last Saturday. Good Photo James!
Great shots of a beautiful sculpture....have you posted a shot of that bridge....
Great sky pictures. I especially like the texture of the eagle's feathers in the first one.
I'm actually fixated at the lamp post. What lovely design.
James,
I just read your entire blog and checked out the photos. Awesome! Philly is one of my favorite places to visit when I can. I'll be posting more here in the coming weeks on my blog...
Wonderful sculptures of the eagles, James. They look so marvelous against the beautiful blue sky.
Kind regards, Pam :)
Great, one of your best shot lately. I am not sure which one I like more: it's too easy to say the first?
Great shots and beautiful sky.
I am rather partial to Eagles, as my Native name is Eaglesbrother.
Good Job.

They are all so beautiful! Wonderful angles!
Oh wow, what a nice perspective and subject. Great shots as always James.
Fabulous photos! The eagle looks like he's going to take off in that third shot!
The eagles look so majestic! I love, love the sky. I guess that's why this is a Sky Watch post. :)
Aa terrific skywatch offering this week. The third frame eagle seems to keep close watch on the plane, but which is not true as the plane is so high above them.
Really like the first shot the best. I do agree - it does look as if the eagle may have a nice snack in the last shot. Nicely done.
bold and beautiful
Sydney - City and Suburbs

Did you try to go back at night?
Lovely skywatch post!

Crisp, cool, and the eagle is ready to soar.
Monuments and lamps go well together as subject for photo. My favourite is the first one.
stunning shots and thanks for the philly info
I like the last because of the small plane that can be seen behind..
eagle is also the symbol of my city!
Fantastic shots of a very handsome eagle, not matter what angle.
Our university mascot is also an eagle, though a blue one, and our men's basketball team is the Blue Eagles :)
Impressive.
Its a BIG eagle :)
But is beautiful ..
I love the funny lamp !!
The sky is very peaceful.
Outstanding, James.
Great sky shot! That's a magnificne teagle and unusual lamp. Some great shots of Princeton in the previous post!
Very nice! I like the first image best. You really nailed this one.
