Surreal Waterfront (Weekend Reflections # 96)

Balboa Island, Newport Beach, Ca

The two people walked into the reflection and I'm glad they did. If you look very closely you might be able to see the black statue of a boy sitting under the tree at the top of the stairs that lead to the water or in this case the land because this is upside down.
In case you couldn't tell, almost everything in this photo is an upside down reflection on water. :)

That is a fabulous picture, James... I had to stare at it several seconds to get it... Very tricky, and very clever : I simply love it !

Very clever and your title is spot-on, very surreal.

This conveys a feeling HEAT! As if the air was thick... Very nice, James! (I've got an upside down image waiting in the wings... inspired by a much earlier post of yours. LOL!)

Hey James, I was lured back by Weekend Reflections and this very surreal post. I don't feel so bad now after reading Sunny's comment up there. That buoy just had me mesmerized. I was actually trying to turn my laptop upside down in an effort to decode this! I looks like you are really enjoying being back in SoCal and taking full advantage of all the amazing watery reflections right in your own backyard.

I especially like the buoy.. it seems to be strangely floating. It's the disturbing detail that gives sense to the picture!

Un cliché impressionnant, bravo une fois encore.

I had the same moment as several others who have commented ... the buoy threw me off for a minute! I had to chuckle at "Stickup Artist" turning the laptop upside down!!!

This is one of my favorite Reflections pictures ever, by the way!

I thought it was upside down but I'm glad you confirmed it. :)

Neat shot, James. I knew it was upside down, but the figures are so compelling, that I wanted to think of it as though it was taken through wet, ripply glass!

Incredibly clever! It didn't occur to me at first that the entire photo was a reflection! Terrific capture!

That's pretty cool James!

It certainly disrupts our perception of the scene to see it upside down, like watching Hendrix play guitar, backwards... Continue please to escort us into your wonderland...

The reflection of the kayak looks brighter than the Kayak itself.

This is the coolest photo! I just had to stare at it for a while to figure it out.

That's so awesome you get to go to Europe this year! Fill me in on where you decide to go. I'll just live through you for the time being :)

If you can remember the html for larger photos that would be great, but don't worry about it if it's too time consuming. I know how those types of things can go!
