Once upon a time in The Village "Weekend Street/Reflections # 234)

New York City

There she was, sagging against the smudged glass of an overpriced Greenwich Village wine bar, a fur hat that probably cost more than my monthly rent, her hand propping up a face that’d seen too many phonies—and, judging by the glazed look in her eyes, too many glasses of wine.
The guy—some loping stranger with flipped-up collar and 1950s Elvis sideburns—ambled past, lost in his own search for something real amid the Village’s fake bohemian clutter. The street buzzed with hipsters, clowns, and posers, and I couldn’t help but choke on a wry laugh—here we were, chasing authenticity like a lost glove, while she was already three sheets to the wind, proving the joke was on us all.

Food cart noir (Weekend Street/Reflections # 138)

New York City

Two guys getting a late-night snack in NYC.  The guy on the right reminded me of Robert Mitchum, circa 1940s. If only he were a little taller and wearing a suit and a fedora. 😊

Cool Jazz (Weekend Street/Reflections # 45)

 New York City

It was Christmas Eve 2015 and he was only wearing a t-shirt. He was so cool he had goosebumps. 😄 I think it started to snow later that evening.

High Five (Weekend Reflections # 488)

New York City        (Pre-scheduled posts this week and next week. I'll be back for # 490.)

Saks Fifth Avenue (Weekend Reflections # 484)

New York City

This was a spur of the moment shot as I was going up an escalator in the Saks Fifth Avenue department store a few years ago. Not a perfect angle because the reflection seems to be missing part of her arm. I think I waited a few seconds too long before I took the shot.

Have a great weekend!

Christmas Past (Weekend Reflections # 481)

New York City

My wife and I spent Christmas 2015 in New York City. I was dreaming of a white Christmas, but I got a wet Christmas instead. The pouring rain distorted the reflections, but I didn't mind. It was a fun trip.
This year will probably be a mild Christmas, sunny and about 65F/20C.

Happy Reflecting!

Song Roundel (Weekend Reflections # 471)

New York City

Do you see the reflection? It's not the white light in the center. The reflection is to the right and slightly up from there. Now do you see it? Although partially obscured by the window frame, it's a round plaque of a seated man playing an instrument while a woman dances. On this side of the street it's a reflection, but across the street it's one of three Art Deco roundels on the façade of Radio City Music Hall. The roundels signify dance, drama and song.

Red M&M (Weekend Reflections # 443)

New York, New York

Can you tell that the red M&M is a reflection? If you are very observant and eat M&Ms, then you might have noticed that the M is backwards. It was reflected from across the street.

Stepping stones ? (Weekend Reflections # 403)

New York, New York

Mistaking this reflection for a stepping stone could cause one's feet to get wet.

Happy Reflecting and Happy Father's Day.  :-)

Rockefeller Center (Weekend Reflections # 360)

New York City

Even in a reflection "The Top of the Rock" gives me a neck ache when I look up. :-)  The view from the top is said to be amazing. I can tell you that the view from the bottom is pretty impressive.

The circular light fixture is not a reflection but it seems to blend nicely with the reflected building and flagpole tops.

 Happy Reflecting!

I was in The Big Apple when I noticed these people sitting under the big Apple logo and above it at the same time. Thanks to the magic of reflections.

Skyscrapers reflected in a bus window. It looks like those windshield wipers are ready to clean more than just the bus' windshield. :-)
