The Chapel of St. Sebastian (Weekend Street/Reflections # 177)

Vatican City

This chapel inside St. Peter's Basilica contains the altar of St. Sebastian, an early Christian martyr from the Late Roman Empire.

Under the altar are the remains of Pope St John Paul II.

Another week another earworm "We got to pray Just to make it today" - MC Hammer.😃

ah oui je me souviens de cette chapelle. Le vatican, est tout de même un des endroits les plus extraordinaires d'un point de vue de concentration de chef d'œuvres de la peinture et de la sculpture et aussi d'architecture...

Incidentally, if you are in center City St. Mark's Episcopal Church, I believe it is on locust Street. Around 17th has a beautiful silver altar which is an exact replica of the one John Wanamaker gave to the British royal family that Grace is one of their private chapels. He had one made for his own congregation in Philadelphia.

It's been a long time since we visited the Vatican, 1980. I don't remember going into the Chapel of St Sebastian.
