Florence, Italy
Rain drizzled over Piazza della Signoria as the old man leaned against the wall of his shopfront, cigarette wavering in his weathered hand. Clouded with nostalgia, his eyes traced the statues—memories of youth flickering: a carnival dance, a lost love’s whisper under the Loggia.
The smoke curled upward, a fragile thread to the past, dissolving into the mist. Time folded inward; the piazza faded, and he stood alone, suspended between what was and what remained unspoken.
Have a great weekend!

He is not as old as he looks. Since he smokes he is only in his 30s. That's what smoking will do, age one..
Looks like he's having a good puff there while thinking through his memories.
Aren't you glad you don't smoke. I used to, years ago, picked it up in high school.
Evocative text and photo. Nice character study.
Striking face.
Fantastic candid shot. Well done.
great portrait. he is lost in his thoughts.
A brilliant photograph James. A man deep in thought with a rugged face, well lined and I am sure he could tell some good stories. Thanks for hosting and commenting. Have a lovely week ahead
