I always notice this
carillon when I pass by, so yesterday I decided to stop and get a few pictures. The plaque said that it was donated to the church in 1929. I took these just before a heavy rain storm.

We used to picnic by a carillon in Richmond, VA when I was a kid. I always enjoyed the sounds.
Great pics capturing the incoming storm.
I bet it sounds as pretty as it looks! That does look like a bad storm coming up.
My blog is here.
Nice captures James. I would love to hear the sounds! You always have interesting pictures and places you visit. And thanks for your nice compliments. As much as you like reading my posts, I love writing them, and I hope not to ran out of ideas.
Nicely done, James...great sky, too. I like carillons except when they're ringing! ;-)
Wonderful photos, the carillon is a great focal point.
Very inspiring. I hope the year it was donated doesn't portend anything re today.
Hmmm, a sky like Versailles! ;-) What does it sound like? Sweet chimes?
What a sky, I'd like a few of your clouds here.
The carillon is fantastic, we are not used at them here. Do they 'play' it often?
I like the first photo!
I like the sky just before it rains. It has so much character, just like what you shown here.
Enjoy the rest of the week.
In addition to seeing such beautiful photography, I'm learning things here. I never knew what a carillon was and now I do. What awesome pictures. I'm so glad I found you. Your blog is just fantastic :)
The first one is my favourite here - could be the start of a film :)
Marvelous shots, James! Beautiful composition in both of them.
Have a great weekend!

Beautiful pictures. How lovely it would be to listen to the bells with a sky like that in the background.
Nice photo. I would like to hear the bells.
Thanks for the visit,
Troy
I love this post!
I'd love to hear the bells too :)

You captured it all, James. There is nothing more moving than the music of the carillon bells. They are so soothing and the sound carries for quite a distance, too. I can almost here them now Thanks!
Lovely captures here! I love to listen to carillon bells but we have none close by.
Hugs and blessings,
When you mentioned 1929, it reminds me of the great depression. Nice photos James, I like the first one :o)
have you had the chance to hear these yet?
lovely captures james.
and as always many thanks for stopping by my blog...always appreciate.
have a wonderful weekend.
Nice shots...I would love to hear these bells...nice skies too...that first shot would be awesome with a sunset background....
It's nice to see the bells out in the open, enjoying the sky.
I like the first image with the cross reaching into the hole in the clouds! Also, your low flying duck is a great catch!
Like the rest, I would love to hear them ring. Nice captures.
Great pictures, and a strange "building" that i've never heard about befoe! ;)
What a dramatic sky! I loved the first shot!
Léia :)
Great pictures. I love to hear the bells from the Catholic church across the street every hour!

Such a beautifully disturbed sky. Wonderful and inspirational shots.
That was a mighty instrument. I hope it survived the storm.
You did more than justice to that first photo... well done!
You taught me something. So far, I have seen only one bell tower.
Your carrilon, do people ring the bells?
Thanks for visiting my site. I like to photograph churches too.
Nice silhouette! I really like the first image.
Nice silhoutte! Love the way the sky is in the picture!
