Old Glory (Weekend Reflections # 48)

Look at the stars on the flag and you will see that the sun reflecting on the water below has multiplied them. I took this photo from The Lumberville-Raven Rock Bridge. It's a foot bridge over the Delaware river that connects Lumberville Pennsylvania to Bull's Island which is in New Jersey. So I'm not sure what state I was in when I took the picture, (New Jersey is on the left and Pennsylvania on the right.) However I did know which way the wind was blowing. :)

You've managed to capture a small galaxy of stardust sprinkled right here on earth! What could be better than that? Love the red and white stripes receding into the background. This is the most unique flag photo I've ever seen. What a great way to kick off the weekend.

Wow, so unusual!
The photo is beautiful and special and gives a good feeling too.

BTW, I remember in school in Chicago we were asked to "help" design a new flag that would have 50 instead of 48 stars.

Fabulous shot! I was expecting a rather sombre comment when I first saw the flag.

Have you found another state: New Sylvania? Wouldn't be bad to have new woodland. Anyway, very clever shot. I like the little stars dancing up from the water.

What an awesome shot! Also happens to be where I'm about to take a dip in the river with my dogs....Jersey side! My son fishes the section for smallmouth alot to. we only live a few minutes away from the river and that is one of te nicest spots. Luckily it it just below the "wing dam" because otherwise you would of had a gazillion tubers, rafters & kayaks in the picture!

Okay, we have it down that you "know which way the wind is blowing" -- too funny!

Now, that is a spectacular shot and the twinkling stars just blow me away!

Yes, JAMES.
As for the reflection, stars seem to totally shine. . .
And it gives the Star-Spangled Banner brightness.

It is really mysterious power.

A great reflection of water droplets on the flag which makes them look like jewels shining under the sun's very rays!

For some reason, it didn't leave a link on my last comment. Normally, the NJ/PA border is down the middle of the river, but for some strange reason, in this area, the river mostly resides in PA. Go figure.

Nessa said...

This is so very cool but you knew that already.

Once again from me, James, a bit thankyou for hosting. This is a very active meme, with much cross visiting. Good fun for the weekend.

The breeze was sure blowing your flag - out nearly horizontal!!

Excellent ! What was it Bob Dylan said about not needing a weatherman to know which way the wind blows ?
