This light house is right next to the Viking statue on Boathouse Row , and was built in 1887 to aid traffic on the Schuylkill River.

I love the name Turtle Rock, it just slides off the tongue beautifully.

What lovely images you showed. Plenty of history too.

Love the perspective in the first photo and the 'contextual' view of the second! Nifty post. I'm sharing Colorful Evening Beach Views this week at Sacred Ruminations.

Great shots, James. Now, I really feel like I missed something!

Hey, I know about back operations! Years ago. Laminectomy. Not fun. But, no real problems since...well, except for a couple of times. Just have to be very careful.

Was that the lighthouse keeper's home? It's huge! I like how it seems to wrap around the lighthouse.

Gorgeous lighthouse!!! Terrific photographs.
I was just over in Delaware and visited the base of the Fenwick Island lighthouse. It's surrounded by the town now but it still keeps it's charm.

The frst shot of the ligth house is just beautiful against the sky. The second makes me want to allpy for the keeper's job so I get to live in that beautiful house!

Wow, what a gorgeous building. It's buildings in this design (colonialism? Neo-colonialism?) that comes to mind when I think of "America."
