I couldn't tell if this boy was working or having fun. Maybe both. Vicki and I went to Amish Country for the first time last Saturday and I fell in love with the area. So I went back today and did several "drive by shootings" like this one.Since the sky is so beautifully blue and one one the clouds reminds me of a heavenly arrow pointing the way for the boy and his dog, I've decided to submit this to Skywatch Friday. Don't know if the boy is working or having fun, as you mention. However, it looks like the dog ahead of the team of horses is having a pretty good time! This is a great shot, James. Weather looks beautiful too.

Nope, no mirrors. It was so strange to see those non-airport-issue-looking chairs in such a long row - more like an art installation, but I didn't see description of the "work" :) Or any signs not to sit.
This is an amazing photo - nice action! Those are some strong horses, and although the wagon seems to have seen better days, it's still holding up! The dog is having fun. I'll bet this could become a great area to return to often for photos.

Oh, I remember SO WELL driving along (in an automobile) with my grandfather, who would tell me all about the Amish and the Mennonites. This is a fabulous photo, well-caught!

I know Amish people only through movies or TV, but I admit they fascinate me.
I think the boy is having both fun and work; The horses are so strong! it must be difficult to drive them! The picture is full of movement and beautyful colors.It would be a gret advertising for their community!
Those are very impressive horses. I think I actually like them more than skinny Arabians. I thought the boy was standing up until I saw the high stool. And if this is just a sample, it's easy to understand why you fell in love with the Amish country there. Lovely!

I have visited this area several times and I'm always afraid I will offend them by trying to take their picture, so I try to be discrete. This is a great action shot! I love the dog.
Good for you for researching that. I just always 'heard' he rumor so avoided it so as not to cause a problem. Now that I know....hmmmmm. :)

Great shot! Beautiful country and sky! I would guess that he is going back to the barn to reload. This is farming as it used to be and the Amish maintain their farms, equipment and animals in great condition. I am seeing a lot of the modern spreaders (rubber tires and pulled by tractors) around here.

Reminds us of home. We lived just 30 mins from Lancaster Co., Pa and Ruth grew up outside of Shippensburg, Pa where she had many Amish neighbors.
